This is completely compelling. I find this image very different from the rest.
The camera's plastic? lens creates this luminous quality that emanates from the center, the dark blurry edges and the bright white in the center give this image so much depth. The lettering on the bucket implies fire--that was my guess anyway before reading the title, but it seems so such an odd thing for it to read. Anyhow, love the pic.

This is part of a series I did of Christo's gates with my Holga-so
much fo the effect I owe to that. Just looking for thoughts and
constuctive criticism. Also-as a note, this photo seems to vary widly
in darkness from screen to screen --right now at work it seems 10%
darker than at home--just a note on that. Thoughts?

You have a wonderful eye. This photo really popped out from the rest for me. it has the feeling a mirage and the trailer seems to be glowing. My first impulse is to crop out about half the sky, but that makes the trailer more of a dead end. The way you have framed it, it is this sort of vortex pulling you towards it. At the same time, it has this bluntness that keeps us outside.

Dylan,
Somehow I relate to this-surprised? The three dimensionality of your face in the reflection is really wonderful, the proportionality, etc. I think I might like it better with the windows on top cropped down a bit. The exposure is right on though.

I appreciate everyone's comments, even negative ones. I find constructive criticism very helpful. Although, saying something is not well done, but may be called "arty" is not constructive, but a put down. I believe photos tell a story-what does this say to you? What is not well done about it? is it interesting? I'd like to think it is, that it engages you. That is what I consider a succesful photo. A lot of people can take beautiful and well-done photos, but they are often boring-there's a few in my portfolio.
I felt I had to respond, as I hope people will look at my photos with those thoughts in mind.
Thanks for your comments and I hope to hear more.

so simple. recognizing pattern is such an important element of photography- but hard to do in an interesting way.
this has wonderful humor. The contrast between humanity and object is wonderful.

I always think of this photo as part of three (the other two are in my portraits folder). It
seems to me the strongest on its own. Any thoughts?

This bridge has been photographed probably billions of times. It is so refreshing to see a new angle on it- I almost didn't recognize it! It is a real virtue to show people something new in something seen so often. The perspective is wonderful.

This is not an accidental shot. It is actually part of a narrative. I am always curious to see how they stand up on their own. Even if something looks accidental, it does not negate the story you may imply.

I think these photos are hard to compose. These four people really capture the moment.

There is something very captivating about the angle and the colors. The light is wonderful.

I have been a bit more spontaneous lately, and playing with frame.
Honest, Constructive Criticism only please, and highly appreciated.
