So can I ask you guys... since a lot are pro's.
Do you still get a few blurry pictures even though you KNOW what your doing?
I mean, I defintly have a few that are perfect, but I just want to know if its hard even when you are good at it/

Ok.. thanks. I am glad to know the solutions I came up with are exactly what I should have done.
Wonderful. I am slowly learning.

Hi
I jsut bought a sigma 70-300MM F4.0 lense. (I know its not that
fast) I am just looking for "tips" on using it.
It takes a little getting use to.
I tried to get a couple (from a distance) hugging, and it came out
blurred(they were moving.. and add camera shake.)
Any tips?
Thanks in advance.

That must be it! :)
Thank you thank you! They do look fine to me, and people i have given images to, say they look fine... PHEEEWWWW..

I calibrated by using the Emac calibration program, and I used various settings but nothing made a "huge change"
This monitor is only a month old, and I am very skeptical that it needs a calibration already.
I am going to print the images and see if they look ok to me.
QUESTION: If they print ok... and the tons are alright... does that mean my monitor is OK?
Thanks for your help!

I know this has been asked, but I didn't see an answer that helped.
I have a EMAC, and I htought my images were "fine" but when I went to
a real professional photographers house, he showed me my images where
very dark. I have tired calibrating my monitor, but I don't know if
its "right". Would looking at the image (while calibrating) that he
said was dark -help?? Any suggestions or thoughts.
Its really scary to think that images I think are "fine" are too dark
and then give them to a potential customer..... grrr.

I am using the Canon 10D.
I am so skeptical....
Hmmm.

Just wondering if anyone has ever purchased one, and if they are worth
it? They are so cheap- but being a skeptic, just wondering if its too
good to be true??
Thanks!

AHH..This drove me crazy for awhile...
Here you go. Image ---- RESIZE----- and then IMAGE RESIZE, and make the image (the top two choices..) smaller. Normally they are very large.
You can also resave the image as a copy... and make it will bring up the option to save it as a large resolution file... or small. Just slide the bar to the left. When I have emailed people in the past, I have been told the resolution doesn't seem bad at all.
Good luck. I hope this helps!

I am looking into buying the Canon 550 EX Speedlite, but see that
Canon makes less expensive ones. I have a Canon 10D, and need a
flash. I do portrait, and wedding and children.
Can anyone give some insite as to what/ or why I should buy the 550
EX? Aren't flashes a one purpose gig?
Thoughts...

Thanks-- thats basically the visual I needed...
I read the www.photo.net/learn link, and I basically understand the why.... and this post helps me more...
I think I just need to know if its OK for me to save images that are 1.8MB and change the 1200x1100 (or whatever) to 500x300 (roughly) and then up the pixels to 200 instead of the 180 they are at, and then when you save it the size of the image changes to 180KB. (Making the file size smaller). Thankfully I backed everything up- so if I really screwed this up--- I'll be Ok.
Am I really screwing these up--- or is this ok??

Thanks, thats what I figured, but wanted to be sure!

saving images in PS...
I have uploaded them from my camera, and they are all JPEGS
When I go back to the file list after I have looked at them and
critiqued them it says "Adobe Photoshop Elements Jpeg File"
Does that matter? Will a client be able to view them?
Thanks

Can someone explain to me, the sizes of the images?
I am so confused what I am looking at. I have read this book, but I just don't get it.
Basically, I have images that I open "fresh"
It says in the corner 25% 17.067 inches x 11.378 inches
Now if I were to view the image in 100%, it makes the image unseeable on my screen.
I am trying to figure out, ..
Do I change the inches size? When I change the resolution the sie of the image changes, but I am afraid what will happen when I want to give these images to Joe smo... Will they be able to print them as 8 x11 ???

Thanks!
I have been reading the Photoshops Element Book.... (I got it at the Library) and its been SO helpful there are just those nagging questions I can't seem to find answers to.
Eureka! The zooming out is why its out of focus... Thank you. That makes a great deal of sense. I am thankful that all my pictures are in focus, and its the zooming out... thats making the a tad fuzzy.
You guys rock

I am newer to Photoshop- and I have been using Elements, just to
learn. I am SO confused on the sizing aspects etc. I am hoping
someone might be able to spoon feed me.
I have a Canon 10D, and when you upload images, they are HUGE!
Then you try to put them on this canvas, and I try to work with 8.5
inches by 11. (just because visually it makes sense to me.. and I can
understand it.)
My problem is, If I were to make a coffee table book, what size
canvas do I want to be working with, and what size should my images
be.
Also, I feel when I look at the HUGE image in PS, its in focus, but
when I make it smaller to look it -- it becomes blurry. Is this
normal?? I don't understand why its blurry when I make it smaller,
but in total focus when its HUGE.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am going to be buying a new lense, and wanted some opinions of what
to buy. When I bought my canon EOS 10D, i just bought hte body and
continued to use my rebel G standard lense 25MM-=75 MM
I want to upgrade now, and wanted to know if anyone had thoughts on
what to buy? What would be a "good" next step. I know everyone will
have a different opinion--
I will be shooting portraits, and weddings.
Thanks~

Thank you Matthew! I just requested your email, I will email you soon.
I don't get on here much.
The system preference hint from everyone was GREAT! So helpful.

I want to make a slide show with IMovie and burn it to DVD... (which
I know you can do)
Does anyone know if it will play in a PC? It would defeat the
purpose if it didn't work.
Thanks!

I have recently started doing photoshoots semi pro- and I have hit
such a snag! I own a MAC OS Panther, and when I get back from my
shoots, I upload the images from the CF card to the computer, and
then save them all on CD (even the junk).
I then go to close my CF card reader and it opens Iphoto, and begins
downloading the images there. So I then have the images on CD, in
Iphoto, and then make a copy on my desktop.
I would like all my photos to go to ADOBE PS. So I can work in there
with them, but they ALWAYS go to Iphoto.
My questions are these:
Is there anyway for images not to go to Iphoto?
Is there a better workflow for uploading images and then working with
them, someone might share?
For some reason, I can't figure out the best workflow. I'd love to
know what others do!
Thanks!

I had a engagement shoot today, with fire trucks the truck was so
clean, that when I review the shots when i got home, the flash
"sparkled" in the door of the truck.
Is there anything you can do about that -- or is a little creativity
in photoshop in order?
I didn't even think about it as I was busy shooting some great shots!

I just bought (for mainly portraits) 2 256 MB CF cards, that write at
4x. They were cheap (for obvious reasons) but I feel I have a good
use for them.
How slow are they going to be on my Canon 10D? Is it going to be
THAT slow.... what are we talking here? I don't need them to upload
quick because they are for portraits. I will have breaks in between
shots.
Thoughts?
How many proofs do you usually give vs. how many taken?
