1.
I have a Domke bag, it is understated and light, but provides little protection. It's OK for cheaper and older film cameras, but I would not use it for more sensitive digital equipment. I have never used the Slingshot, but I own the Magnum from LowePro, they are well-made bags, with great protection & nice design. But I also like KATA bags a lot, because they try to provide both - good protection, but lightweight, nice design. I am also hearing a lot of nice things about ThinkTank, so you may want to look at those also. In general, I would also say that it is worth spending a few more $$$ for a good bag rather than buying something cheap.

  2.
I am looking for opinions on the best camera+laptop backpack for overseas travel. I am looking for one that it not too heavy to begin with (I am a normal size woman), fits one DSLR with two-three lenses, flash, cables, etc and preferably a 15 inch laptop, although that is not imperative. Something of high quality, made for photo equipment, but doesn't have to advertise the fact that I am carrying expensive stuff. Any ideas, first hand reviews would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  3. I am having problems converting my D300 NEF (RAW) files with CS3 including the latest

version of ACR and all the updates. I am able to read some of the NEF files, but about 50% of

them I can't open. I am using a MAC. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is it

possible that my camera is creating corrupt NEF files? I tried NX and ran into pretty much the

    same problem there. Very strange.

  4. Hello All,

After some years of toying with the idea, I have decided to get a Leica M system. I have been using digital

SLRs as well as a Hasselblad, but I need something more candid, smaller and lighter and less threatening

for portraits. I also like to photograph children -- fast moving objects.

So my question is this: given that I have not used a rangefinder before and I am not so used to quick

manual focusing, should I spend an extra $1,000 or so for a used M7 (which has apperture priority and I

gather, some other comfort features), or is the difference between the M6 and M7 negligible enough so I

will be OK with a nice M6 ?

    Thank you in advance.
