1.
Hello Sam, I do have a Spotmeter V...The camera shop where I got it gave me the stick-on scale you are refering to......You might give Pentax a call (1-800-877-0155), perhaps they could help you to find one.......To find exactly where zone V is, set the E.I. at 125, then adjust the dial to f16 and 1/125 sec., then see what scale number lines up...on mine it is 14 2/3......so, zone IX would be 18 2/3 and zone 0 would be 9 2/3........Jim

 2.
Hello Guy, You said it brother.....I will put any Pentax lens against any other brand lens of the same focal length........on a further note: I once had a smc 55 f1.8 ( i got on a Pentax ES) that got up to 88L/mm at f5.6,8,and 11 center and corner both........I hated to give it and the ES up but I traded it in for my first MX and 50 f1.7.......Jim

 3.
Hello Max, I'm wanting to recommend a Tamron SP 500 f8 mirror lens. I have a few bird shots with it on my portfolio.......bought mine used at ebay......it is a very fine lens......but there are other 500 f8's that are very low in contrast that make them almost useless......Jim

 4.
Well Jacques, it has to do with the actual psysical size of a pixel compared to the grain size of a super fine grain of a film like Panatomic-X or Kodachrome 25........I'm not really wanting to get an argument started. I just think that comparing sharpness in digital is not the same thing as with film.......sort of like doing a resolution test using T-max 3200 instead of 100........Jim

 5.
Hello Benny, If you want my 2 cents worth........You can lower the contrast of any everyday slide film you can buy.......Al you need to do is to have a camera that can do multiple exposures, so you can give the film a Zone I, I 1/2, or II pre-exposure....You will need to do some experimenting.......If you are serious about this and want to realy learn all about this you will need to email me and I will give you my Phone number at my home in Indiana......Be glad to talk to you........Jim

 6.
Hi Kathy, I think you have already answered your question......" I tried my 50mm manual lens and can not see a difference in image quality".......Unless you require more lens speed, you have your answer.......I have the 18-55 AL (not the newer ALII) and I am still surprised at it's Image Quality..........Jim

 8.
Hey, Just for the sake of getting my 2 cents worth in.........I don't think it amounts to a hill of beans which lens brand you use as long as the aperture is the same if the body is digital, the digital screen is not capable of the resolution of the high resolution film. the pixels are just not small enough to get film's fine grain resolution........Jim

 9. Hello Robert, I had one, not a thing wrong with it. Bought it new to use on 35mm cameras(Pentax of course) and it was a mighty fine lens, but I was always wanting a 28-200 for more range......Sold it on Ebay to a guy in Russia, buy way of someone in New York, as I recall.....Jim
