1.
Found this thread because I'm now in the market for portable media. I've seen a number of the threads post about wolverines, but I thought I would provide my experience with their 80GB ESP. I was initially quite pleased with the device, but in less than 1 year, the device failed (hard drive failure -- path does not exist). I repaired the hard-drive and less than a year later, it failed again. I haven't been using it much because of lack of confidence, but now with the second failure, I think that this device is not sufficiently reliable. Maybe I just got a lemon -- twice.
I also have a wolverine flashpac that I've used now for a year. My only two issues with the flashpac is that it eats battery power (as noted in other posts). Although I haven't tested it in this fashion, I am reasonable certain that it would not last long enough to fill the HD on one charge. It also doesn't provide confirmation that the files have transferred successfully, although you can implicitly tell that files transferred by the number of GB before and after.

  2. Andrew et al.,

There is something wrong with my Body. I went to Glazers camera today in Seattle and used my flash and lens on another body. Everything worked beautifully. I'll be calling B&H Photovideo about exchanging! Thanks for your help.

  3. Andrew,

Thanks. When I press 1/2 way on the camera trigger, the flash switches to the TTL mode and then the flash zoom position blinks (24mm while on 35mm). When I press the trigger, the back light illuminates (not sure if it is the AF illuminator). I've done the rest and no different results.

I have considered whether it is an interface problem between the lens and the camera, but the manual modes don't work-- but the A mode does--seems bizarre!

May have to send back to Pentax which is really quite annoying for a camera that is less than a month old.

  4. Hoping someone may be able to help me with this problem.

I recently purchased a K10D, AF540 FGZ and a sigma 24-70mm EX DG Macro lens.

I purchased the AF540 flash because of the PTTL issue.

The flash will only fire when the flash is set in the A-mode. The flash will

fire when the camera is really in any mode, AV, TV, X, M, but the flash must be

in A-mode. In the A-mode, I have to manually set the aperature on the flash

    and the ISO.

When the flash is in the PTTL mode, it does not fire at all. I also have tried

firing the flash when it is set in manual mode and it also does not fire.

I updated the camera body's firmware to 1.11 and the wireless firing also does

    not appear to be working.

The lens is set in automatic aperture, the camera is set on "flash on". I have

a AF500FGZ if anyone thinks that may be useful for some tests.

I called Pentax but they said that they have never heard of this problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    David
