Had you considered Tokina 100-300mm AF f/4? That is a fabulous lens :D.
-
If your friend his having a Dynax/Maxxum/Alpha 5 /505si .... then good riddance ... the FS1100 does not work with it.

The FS1100 looks like this :

(By the way, what is a fake flash?)
-
The fact it is designed for short exposures (mainly because it is designed as a portrait dedicated film, try to ask the human subject to remain in the same position without movement for the next 10 minutes :D ) does not mean it cannot handled longer exposures.
From the datasheet :
http://www.pictureline.com/images/pdf/AF3-809E.pdf
For long exposures, no correction is required up to 1 seconds and 1/2 stop for exposures up to 2 seconds. If anything above that, I would be using my own idea of addition 1 stop exposure for thereafter (meaning if I would be taking a picture that requires 4 seconds, I would be taking it at 8 seconds instead).

Metering? I guess they are using TTL .... or Through the Lens. It would work with Aperture Prority Mode, I think.
But then even if someone machined the actual adapter, your 28mm MC/MD lens would effectively becomes a 56mm lens due to the crop factor.
the mount is the same, only the sensor is small enough to crop.

VC5D? Not possible .... but I think third party manufacturer might be interested :) ... like Jenis who had made Vertical Grip for D70 / D70s
-
I sincerely doubt a VC7D will fit 5D .... the dimension for 5D is :
131 x 93 x 67 mm (5.2 x 3.7 x 2.6 in)
While the dimension for 7D is :
150 x 106 x 78 mm (5.9 x 4.2 x 3.1 in)
Even the Battery Installment is different .... how are you going to Jam a VC7D into a 5D?
LOL :D

I have a Sigma 105mm. I have a Tamron 90mm .... my friend has a Minolta 100mm ...... To me, not much difference, especially after stopping down to above f5.6, virtually indistingable.
Some say the bokeh of the 105mm is not good, but then I can create lousy boken with my Tamron as well, and I can create good bokeh with the 105mm. I wonder what all the fuss is about.
In a nutshell, 105mm Sigma lens is a good lens, worth every penny of it. So is Tamron or Minolta.
-
The longest 2.8 lenses Pentax has is the 105mm f/2.8, which means the actual requirement for the aperture size is only 38mm, thus to have a 49mm filter size is nothing special.
-
Yes, it will ..... but for A and S mode, the shutter speed will change to the X-Sync of the body. In M model, the shutter speed will be determined by you.

Did anyone know of any Contax Zeiss Lenses to Minolta Adapter that
is available on the market?
I know Carl Zeiss produce quite a few good lenses, noticeablity the
85mm f/1.4 lens. Its colour and contrast seems to supercede even
Minolta own 85mm G lens.
Can anyone give me a direction?
-
Depending on the price......
-
You are welcome.
Some Nikon Camera cannot meter with non-AI lens as there is a coupling between the Camera and the lens.
-
Metering should not be much of a problem. However, you will see your aperture as 0 or 1 as there is no electronic contact, the lens cannot tell the body what aperture is used.
-
If it can be mount on the body, it can be used.

Actually, I can't find the 200mm f/2.8 as detailed by yourself that is selling for 250GBP. Do you mind give an address to it? But then if you considered 200mm with 2x Teleconvertor an optical equal to a dedicated 400mm f/5.6 prime lens, then something is wrong somewhere. Either the copy of the 400mm f/5.6 lens is a lemon copy or the Minolta Copy of 200mm and 2x Teleconvertor are excellent copy.
However, I have to agree that the 200mm f/2.8 alone is an outstanding lens and very verstile indeed. However, if I want to use a teleconvertor, I would choose a 300mm f/4.0 coupling with a 1.4x Teleconvertor instead. At least the optical degrading is not that bad.

I had tried Minolta 500/8, it comes with AF and the output is excellent..... bokeh is not very nice but artistic in its own way.
I had tried the Russian Rubinar 500/5.6 and 1000/10. The output is as good as it can be, no AF but simply fabulous.
Never tried the Sigma 600/8 before, but I don't think it will supercede the Minolta 500 or Rubinar 500

To be more precise on the previous poser, please visit this page for the address and Telephone Numbers of Konica Minolta Service Centre within USA.
http://kmpi.konicaminolta.us/eprise/main/kmpi/content/cam/cam_SupportCenter/Support_Service
I kind of like Konica Service Centre. They are more obliging then Canon Service Centre which I went to. When I went to Canon Service Centre with my 10D then, I was complaining I get black coloured picture, they just say "What's the problem?" When I explain it to them "Leave the camera here, we will give you a reply by Thursday" .... Two weeks passes, no news, so I made a phone call to them. Their Answer "Oh, we found nothing wrong with your Camera". When I tried to explain to them they just insisted there is nothing wrong. I was so pissed off, I went down to the service centre and switch that camera into continuous shooting mode and shot for 10 frames none stop. When it reaches about 4th to 5th frame, the problem started, first with half pic, then totally dark. It was then they acknowledged there is problem with the Camera and subsequently found the electric contact of the Shutter gets erractic and loss electrical contract thus wrong synco (whatever that means).
For my 2 year old Maxumm 7, I went there just to change the Focusing Screen to a Matt Line Screen, getting hooked on Manual Focus and Cheap Good Quality Russian Lenses. They mentioned they will need two weeks to do so as they wanted to calibrate the camera and there is a long queue in front of me, even though installation of the Focusing Screens takes about 10mins. I am not in the hurry to use the camera as I have my old trusty 700si as my backup (10 years old this year, other then a changed Handle Grip, there is absolutely no problem). For the next three days, I get calls from Minolta Service Centre telling me of dust particles found within the camera, asking me if I wanted to clean the camera since my camera is with them, asked me if I wanted to clean the AF sensor since there are some small specks on it. I replied, yes. About a week later, they called for me to collect the camera. The Maxxum 7 was good as new, the dust particles that it captured on the viewfinder (though not affecting the picture, is sometime very irriating) is gone. The mounting mark on the Mounting ring is gone, the rubber on the body felt clean, the calibration is good. They never charge the extra service onto it. When I asked why. Their reply "Oh, the service charge for changing the focusing screen and general servicing is the same, we figured since you are changing the focusing screen, we might as well give it a complete general complete checkuop and servicing while we are at it."
Now I understand why they have a long queue, they tried to give their customer the best they can give. They do not give optimistic estimation of recovery as well. They promised 2 weeks, but they get it done within 6 working days.
I guess the reason why a telephone number on the manual is not available is because it is normally on the Warranty Card. It comes with a sticker detailing every service centres and phone numbers and what you need to do is to pull out the sticker with the detail of the service centre nearest to you and paste it on the warrenty card to be sent to KM while the other portion is to be stick onto the Customer's copy of the Warrenty Card, so you will know exactly who to call, since you will be looking for the Warrenty Card when you try to call them. Did you check the Warranty Card?

Tokina 5x Zoom is pretty good, but lacking in contrast. You might be better off with Minolta 100-400 F4.5-6.7 APO, a Tamron AF 200-400mm f/5.6 LD IF or a Sigma AF 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO Aspherical .... even the Sigma AF 50-500mm f/4-6.3 APO EX would be better choice.
-
A 200mm f/2.8 and Teleconvertor? Wow ... that is a high priced setup. With that setup you might as well get a Sigma 500 APO f/4.5 instead.
-
a. Teleconvertor generally degrade the quality of the picture, even though you have a pretty good lens, it will not do you much good then to get a Mirror lens.
b. There is a highly regarded Mirror Lens that is AF, which is the Minolta AF 500 /8. The optical quality is nowhere inferior to the lens counterpart, but it is definitely slightly weaker in the Bokeh Department.
c. You can always use a cheap Russian Mirror Lens which give you f/5.6 aperture instead. The optical Quality is very good as well. Comparable to any prime lens on the market, but as usual the Bokeh is not anywhere as good.
d. You could, of course, try to get a 2nd handed 400mm lens like the tokina 400 F5.6 TOKINA AT-X APO SD. Don't ever get the 400 F5.6 SIGMA (72mm filter) though, the output is junk. If your really want to get a Sigma 400 f/5.6 lens, get a 400 f/5.6 Marco (77mm filter) lens instead. They are sold 2nd handed for about 170 - 250.

I think Kirk has a "Big L Quick Release Plate" which can fit your requirement very well.
http://www.kirkphoto.com/lbracketso.html
However, you will have to specify the model to Kirk.

Check the answer post by a minolta user on the minolta thread. Subsitute the word "Minolta" to Pentax.

Ok, checked, FS-1100 does work with the Body based on the Minolta Website :
if you use a standard hotshot-pc socket adapter it should work too, at least it is working for me :D.
