The 990 is still a very good camera in image quailty compare with new DCs in the market now. Its macro is fantastic.

I bought it 3 years ago and still using it to take photos of my products since its great performance in macro, manual focus and bracketing. The most important thing is it uses AA batteries.

I have had a Olympus 750 but sold it after using it 4 months. The image quailty is far behind the coolpix. I bought a D70 three weeks ago and the image quialty is similar to the 990.

It is bulky when you compare it with a lot of other snap shot cameras in the market. It really depends on what you use it for. What kind of features you want!

I am using a Contax 67mm P-filter on the 18-70 lens, there is slight vignetting at full wide. In fact, the 67mm p-filter is relatively a thick filter compare with other ordinary uv filter.

You'd better try the filter at the shop and see.
