  1. I use the 45 and the 90 lenses. I love the 90 because it allows me to do panoramics of closer subjects. Think parts of cars and things of the sort. The 45 is just too wide to get in close since the minimum focusing distance is some 2 feet or more. I can't remember exactly.
  2. Larry, Had you shown me just the black and white I would have said yes absolutly, but in this particular shot for some reason I am drawn to the color one more.. I don't know why. Maybe because its very muted and subtle? I'm also colorblind so you know :P

Robin, Thats a great idea about going with 200. I think I will give that a try and see what happens. Best of both worlds maybe!

  3. Thanx everyone! The shots look great.. Clearly it isn't a fault of the film I am having but the scanning! Definatly time to get out the Nikon scanner. I'd prefer the Minolta I think but eh. The Nikon is already at work so I am sure it will do! I'll post some shots when I get something worth while!

It could also be that I haven't scanned anything in a looooong time! I shoot Canon digital mostly, but I also have an Xpan so I haven't completely sworn off film!:P

  4. And I have officially entered the strange and chaotic world of Leica.. Again! I

had an M6 once before but it had a shutter problem that was a pain to get

repaired. In the end I got rid of the camera after only a roll or two because I

    just couldn't trust it.

So there we have it! Now I am just trying to work out which film to use. I would

prefer to use XP2 if I can because there are few labs near me that can do Black

and White processing, and I don't want to do it myself. I scanned some from my

first roll and wasn't happy with the sharpness, but then it was on an epson

flatbed which is arguable in handling 35mm negs. I think it is time to break out

the Nikon Coolscan IV and see how that handles.

Here are a few questions for you all. Anyone else have some shots they can show

me taken with the XP2? I used to shoot it all the time rated at 100 on my Contax

T2 and loved it. I am sure it is just a scanning issue at this time but I dunno!

Well thats all for now :P I am sure you will start to hear from me more and more

now that I am in debt and can do nothing else but post...

  5. it does take a manual thread release then? excellent, you just made my choice for me. :D

and $1500 seems about what i have seen them for used here in California. a few months ago I saw one at Samy's in Los Angeles at that price. body and 45 lens. not sure the filter came with it. but maybe you could find a shot with one and bargin for it.. thats what Im hoping to do. maybe if i pay cash somewhere they will be willing to throw in the filter, or give me a discount anyways.

Secretly im hoping one comes into the camera shop i work at, but we've yet to see one, so im not holding my breath.

  6. so I've been drooling over one for years now. I think im ready to take the plunge. I'm going to England this summer for my first time abroad and figure if im going to get one eventually, now is the time so i have it for the trip right? heres the question. Money is a consideration for me, so i cant decide on the xpan or xpan II.. I can deal with the leader being rewound, the shutterspeeds not in the finder, and the shorter bulb length as ive never gone past a minute or two anyways.. the real concern for me is the cable release. i dont use one often, it will mostly be hand held, so i am thinking i can just use the xpan with self timer if need be right? doesnt work in bulb obviously, but I RARELY ever get past a few seconds anyways and i believe it has shutter speeds down to several seconds... i havent been able to find anywhere if it allows you to use an older style thread release...

my other queston is on the 45 lens. I shoot a lot wide open, so in your experiences is it worth it to get the center filter. I dont care for vignetting much. on occasion its interesting, but I am thinking i probably want the filter..

  7. As soon as i get to work and have a chance, i will check all of these links, but Thank you all very much for your patience in giving me your opinions. Leica forums have always had a stigma of being an intimidating bunch of people, but i've always found you all very pleasant and helpful so thanks again. :) btw, i used to use a different id here, so I have been here more than the my join date suggests :D
  8. Dont suppose someone here can point me to some images taken with

Leica Screw mount lenses, any will do, though specificly, the

Summaron 3.5cm f3.5 and Elmar 5cm f3.5 are the two im looking at

that are with the IIIC body. I've looked everywhere and can't find

any images taken with them to see how the quality is, just a bunch

of photos of them. they are sitting right here, I know what they

LOOK like :P I wanna know what they produce ;)

    thanx
