Thanks Bruce for your answer. I appreciate it. David, as I stated, the D200's use will be very limited. I am in full agreement with what you said. And I have been conducting test shoots with the Lightsphere. I would not put the LS as a radical change from the Omnibounce. Both diffusers count on the surrounding area to bounce light from. Having done some test already, there is a little difference but not much. Thanks.

I am preparing to shoot a upcoming wedding this week and have just a few
questions. This will be the first wedding that I will be incorporating
digital. I will be using the digital to capture a few reception shots of
bride and guest on this assignment. Not ready to unleash the D200 yet. I
have also just recently purchased two new Lightspheres for my SB-800 and the
SB-28. I have been using the Omnibouce for awhile. Iam shooting with the
D200 and the F5. Here are the questions I have:
1. I am concerned about shooting digital when getting pictures of the bride
in her dress. I am aware that digital does not capture all the detail that
film does. Having said that, I have heard that when shooting digital one
should always have the camera set -1 EV to prevent blow out. If so, do you
keep it on that setting all the time?
2. Having just recently aquired the Lightsperes, when I am shooting with the
F5, I set my ISO to 320 when shooting with Fuji NPH. Anyone who is shooting
with the LS and using film, are you setting the ISO at 320 or 400?
Thanks guys.

I am taking a look at my Nikon lenses and trying to decide what other lens to
add to my arsenal after the sell of my 300mm f/4 AFS. I had this lens for
when I was shooting nature stuff back a few years ago and have not used it
since. I shoot both digital and film now and currently have the following
lenses: 18-70/3.5-4.5 DX AFS, 28-105/3.5-4.5, 28-70/2.8 AFS, 80-200/2.8, and
the 300mm. I have thought about adding a few fast primes in the bunch or sell
both the 300 and the 80-200 and get the 70-200/2.8 or a 17-35/2.8. I would
hate to get rid of the 80-200 because it is just such a sharp lens, but the VR
would help during the ceremony shots from the back or off to the alter side.
I am just not sure if getting rid of the 80-200 is worth it, only to gain the
VR. I believe primes are a good thing, but I also like the zooms that enable
me to keep watching the event unfold with out having to run back to my bag to
switch a lens and possibly lose a shot. I like to shoot PJ style and I will
shoot just a few formals.
I believe I read it somewhere here that Marc Williams got rid of his 70-200
and opt to shoot with the primes instead. That would be hard to let go of
such a great lens like the 70-200. It is a heavy lens to tote around, so that
might be his reasoning and that is something to consider as well.
Any ideas? Thanks, Russell.

I am looking for some NiMH 2500 AA batteries and charger. I have
seen the batteries and the hookee looking cheap chargers that come
blister packed at the Best Buy and Wal Marts, and I am not to
impressed with them. I was wanting to now if there are better
batteries and chargers out there that you guys are using that I need
to consider. I prefer to have the batteries charge at a slower
rate, and don't care for the fast chargers that degrade the battery
life. Does anybody have some recomendations on what brand and were
to buy? Thanks guys.

I am a little new to all of this color calibration stuff and
have a few questions. From what I gather, color calibration is
needed if you are making prints on an ink jet printer so the colors
on the monitor match the prints from the printer? What if I am
editing my images and then burning those images to a DVD or CD then
taking those images to my photo lab to be printed up on a Noritsu or
a Fuji Frontier machine? Is monitor Color Calibration needed for
this? Thanks.

Alright, I have made my mind to get a Mac. I have a few questions
about both. The thing I like about the laptop is I can burn disks
after the wedding then give to bride and send a copy home. I can
also start editing the event while away from home.
With the desktop, the things I like about that, is the ability to
use a CRT and the processing of images will probably be faster.
I am looking at the Power Book G4/17inch. My questions are as
follows:
1. If I go with the Power Book G4/17in., should I opt for the 7200
rpm, 100 GB drive, or opt for capacity and go with the 120 GB 5400
rpm drive?
2. Is the 17in. screen acceptable enough to process images for an
extended period of time? As compared to a CRT. I know that I can
connect to a CRT, but that would be an added expense.
3. Would the power book be close enough in speed as compared to the
desktop so the processing of images not be labor intensive?
4. Should I wait for Photoshop to go native on the new Intel based
Mac's and get either a desktop or laptop?
Thanks guys.

Thanks guys. All of you have been very helpful. I am still in the transition of going digital, and recently have spent several $$$$. $$ in doing so. I do agree with Steffi and Michael and all the rest, that backing up to something is a comfort zone we can take advantage of by shooting digital. The Delkin burn looks like an option I may go with until the laptop arrives. Thanks again guys.

I don't have a laptop or a portable hard drive. The cards will be a carry on item for the flight home, for sure! Assumming cards are as safe as film, and care is taken while on the trip back home, Is there anything that can possibly damage the info on the card that I need to know about? After the card is full, the card comes out of the camera, and into the plastic case, then into the bag.
I am trying to determine if the expense is warranted for purchasing a laptop or some other portable data bank to back them up to. What do all of the film shooters do afterwards? Shoot the entire wedding, then when it was all over tell the wedding party, " OK guys, I need a back up! Lets' shoot all again!" ;)
I guess I'm looking for a horror story even if someone takes all the proper care that shooting digital requires before the shoot and proper care is taken after and transporting thier cards.

I will be shooting a wedding out of state in June and had a question
about what to do with my full CF cards.
Theoretically, CF cards are like rolls of film? After shooting
film or filling up your CF card, just thorough it in your bag right?
I plan on holding them untill I get back home to the computer to
process them. Is this a sound proceedure, or should I be doing
something else? Any suggestions guys? Thanks, R. Dean

Beau, That is one thing that I did not think about was the color space. I did take the pictures in RGB and not sRGB. I will check with them today and find out what color space they are using. Thanks.

I have purchased a new Nikon D200, and made some test pictures on my
San Disk Ultra 11 compact flash card. When I made the pictures, my
camera settings were on auto WB and some were made in shade WB. I
had the quality mode set on JPEG fine. Metering was made in AV. I
took the CF card out and went to my local photo lab and downloaded
the images off of the card at the kiosk. I picked up the pictures
later and all of them had a greenish tint to them! The photo tech
advised that when he viewed the pictures on the screen before
printing, they all looked fine. He said he checked everything on
his end to make sure everything is working fine. Does anybody have
a clue as to what may have caused this? I am a little new at the
digital thing and hope someone has some answers. Thanks.

I have just recently purchased a Nikon D200 and looking for a flash
bracket to go with it. I currently have a Pro T bracket set up for
my F5 with the anti twist plates. I have checked with Stroboframe
and they do not have the anti twist plates for the D200 as of yet.
They advised they were developing a plate for it, but I would just
have to tighten the camera to the cork for now. I tried that with
the F5 and it just will not work for me. I am curious if anybody
has the D200 and what bracket they are using, and if it is working
for them? Thanks.

Has anybody heard of the Nikon D200 with an integral vertical grip
coming out in May of 2006? If this is the case, I may wait to
purchase until then. I would much rather have the integral grip
instead of having to buy it as an accessory.

I have been using a local camera store for process and printing my
35mm film for proofs and enlargements. I have found a professional
lab in my area that offers a lot more services than the camera
store. For those who are still shooting film, What is your work
flow with the services your lab is providing? What service do you
use or would not use? Some of the services that have appealed to me
with this lab is web hosting with Event Pix and album creation with
software they will provide. I am ready to offer more to my
customers and would like to have some imput from this great forum.
Thanks Guys!

I am not sure what your budget is but if you are considering an F100 or an F4, then I will assume your are willing to shell out $600.00 plus dollars. If you think you will be using the camera often, I would consider the more rugged F100. Forget the F4 because it will be to bulky for you, as you had described. Also it is older camera than the F100. The F100 will be more up to date. The F100 is a little bigger than the N80 and the N75, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. My wife has the N75 and she loves it. In my honest opinion, If you are just a casual photographer, go with the N80 or N75. If you are a little on the serious side of that, than get the F100. Good Luck.

Does anyone use imported film? Is there a difference between USA
and imported other than the price? I am planning to order some
packs of film and was wondering if the savings is worth it.

I am looking for a flash bracket to use on my Nikon F5 camera. I
will be using this setup for shooting weddings and other events. I
would like to hear recomendations from people who use the same type
of camera body or simular to it. Please give details on your likes
and dislikes. Thanks.
