  1. I really like the second. You could easily use that on a business card down the right side - would be different.

I agree with you on coming up with a different name other then using your name - that is overdone IMHO. I have done that myself.

  2. Just got my replacement D200. I have to wait until I get home to test the hot shoe, but I don't expect any issue since this doesn't appear to be a problem reported anywhere else.

After talking with the Sales manager they gladly took the old one back and confirmed that there was an issue with the hot shoe (it's going back to Nikon).

Unfortunately I had to pay for shipping back to KEH, but they did send out a new one with free shipping.

  3. I agree Anne ... love this program. I was recently wowed by Bibble Pro 4.9b and it's inclusion of a patch tool. However, I have never really been happy with the color output from Bibble. Thankfully I hear a rumor on another forum that Lightroom will include the Healing brush and a clone tool in the GA version.

Perhaps you could share with us some of your favorite settings for processing with Lightroom?

  4. Paul - Doesn't matter what mode the camera is in (P,M,A). I have done a setting reset several times. The flash is on either TTL BL or TTL - AA & M still works fine. As a matter of fact I was still able to use the SB-800 as a commander in M mode (I didn't try TTL).

Joseph - Both the 800 and 600 seat fine and make good contact. The camera information is properly displayed on the 800 screen (ISO, Aperture and power zoom).

    Thanks for trying guys!

  5. Thanks Shun ... it's brand new ... did this right out of the box! I am working with KEH.com to try and get a replacement. First person I spoke with tried to say it was a warrantly issue. I don't think so! It's not like it broke while I had it ... it came that way!

I tried cleaning all the contacts, tried different flash units ... nothing worked.

  6. Sorry ... I should have been more clear. This is with one flash in the camera hot shoe. Just trying to use normally. I have a feeling that something is defective with the hotshoe since the built in flash works fine.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello all,

I just wanted to check before I sent back my new D200 if anybody else has had

    this problem.

This happens with either my sb-600 or sb-800 and doesn't happen on with my D70.

When I set the flash to TTL BL or TTL the preflash fires but nothing happens

during the actual exposure, so I end up with dark frames.

Is there some setting on the D200 that would do this? I spent about an hour on

the phone with Nikon support and the person I talked to wasn't that knowledgable.

    Thanks!

  8. Have you every had this happen ... I was shotting a wedding in the

cold and it was pretty windy. Wasn't below freezing and suddenly my

f100 won't focus my 50mm lens. So I try to switch to manual focus and

the focus ring won't move. So I switch cams and move on. Later during

the reception I pull it out and try it on a different cam ... same

result. I am thinking okay the lens is boken. The next day I test it

out and it works like a charm. Any ideas??

  9. I don't agree with Derek C ... you don't have to look very far to find amazing photos that are taken with out of date equipment.

I think r b brings up an excellent point in that we should focus on seeing the picture instead of the equipment used to make the picture. I was reading the other day how Ansel told many people that almost any modern lens will produce a picture of accetiable technical quality and not to worry about the equipment.

Yes you may miss a few images if you don't have the latest and fastest autofocus camera/computer, but that does not stop you from creating images with impact, emotion and feeling. Those are far more important then getting every single expression on film/memory card. Just look at some of the best pictures from Marc Williams, Al Kaplan and Jeff Ascough.

In my mind as technology advances even more one of the only things that will start to seperate the Pro Wedding Photographer from Uncle Bob is the composition of the image.

The point that I am trying to get at is that some folks are more comfortable with different kinds of equipment then other folks and that while equipment choice is important the ability to see the image is far more important.

This is an excellent read on this subject:
