1.
I have large number of prints.the size is from stamp/pasport/and 110 film contacts from agfa old box camera.the maximum is 4x6.
What I want to know is whether I can place on the scanner glass as many prints as can be accomodated on it in one go and scan them in a file and then crop each image from the file.how this will affect the quality and resolution of the images?scanning each print separately seems a very cumbersome job to me!
my scanner is flatbed canon mp 287 with optical resolution 1200x1200.when I scan a single image about 3.5x3.5 inches, and when imported in photshop it gives a file size of 2550x3501 (widthxheight) with resolution 300p/i.however the visible image is a very small part(1050x1032 @72p/i) of the whole file(25.5m) which is mostly white background.
I have 2 mobile phone cameas 5mpand 9 mp and one digital camera 12 mp .If I use one of these for scanning the old prints how much worse or otherwise these would look as compared to the above scanner.
I have no resources to afford a better scanner or camera and I intend to use only what I have.
please advise.
with regards and thanks
I am a learner and a new entrant in image manipulation
what I did was the above image. It is a crop, but I reached it by dupicating the layer and moving the layer down to this point and selecting and copying. later I realised crop should have given the same result.
As regards the replacement for the table , I have not given any thought. because the individuals in the photo want the contents on the table removed.they need a clean table top or at the most with just a water bottle on it. and if I try to remove the objects by selecting through path/quick mask etc. even then the black empty space is shown on the photo layer in place of the object removed. If table removal require replacement the ohjects removed also require it? I am not sure!. Whatever way I proceed , in the end the empty spaces of removed ohjects are shown.I think I am terribly wrong somewhere.
My request is to help me learn through steps if possible in the matter in whatever way.
thanks & rregards
From the above photo I want to remove table wtih its contents .I donot wish to crop .
what I did I moved the duplicate layer downwards so that table is hidden and copied and saved the visible. But I wish to know whether there is a procedure for removing the table /contents through quick masks/layers mask/alpha channel to do and if so please give some steps to proceed.I use gimp but even photoshop steps are also welcome..

 5.
I joined photo.net in 2001. I used to get subscribed newsletters regularly. However, due to reasons beyond my control i did not interact for a long time. then I forgot my passowrd.Recently I decided to join with a new password.
While browsing the forums and searching as Vinod wadhawan I came across another Gallery titled "vinod Wadhawan Photography " that contains 2 earlier photos posted by me .My current Gallery titled "vinod wadhawan" contains 6 photos. Both the galleries have different Ids, although the earlier photos are also mine although forgottten.
Is there a way to make both the galleries as one so that it contains all the photos.
or Are there some other suggestions.
thanks regards
6.
Sir,
I have two photos one before i.e. raw . and the other after post processing which are in two files in a photo editing software say gimp.one is headed :before and other after. How can I transfer both the photos in single file so that I can show them as one i.e.both the images side by side.this have been seen on various sites but I prefer to learn rather than copy.I want both the images in a single file so that I can either email them or load on to a blog.
this may seem very raw but please advise.
body tell me and what is the differnce between these 2 types.
