  1. Thanks for commenting Jan Olof! Our trip to India was not a photo trip but a family holiday with all our children and a chance for recuperation for me as I have been struggling with health problems for some time (thus the low photography activity on my part). I realize all I got was snapshots i flat light, but I will put some up on the web anyway mainly because of the wonderful colours I found everywhere.

Very interesting with all the lines crisscrossing. The soft, grey ligtht looks very natural. I do not find this *very* beautiful, in a way it is almost dull, but there is this harmony that makes it nice to look at (hope you get what I mean, sometimes I feel really crippled using a second language).
  2. Absolutely breathtaking! Your effort was really worth it!

I am especially impressed by your work with the texture in the sand to work as foreground, placing your subject at some distance and still get that impressive feeling.

Also, it's nice to come back after a long absence and find some new, truly inspiraional photos in your portfolio.

Thanks all for comments and encouragement!

About the highligts on his face and hand; I can see that viewed on my laptop monitor they look burnt and without detail. On my workstation monitor (NEC 2180) it looks fine. Just enough texture in the highlights.

Yes Jan Olof, I do look deep into your folders :) I enjoy many of your photos even though I have not commented on that many. I often take long and deep peeks in photographers' albums, but I find it difficult to comment a lot of photos. I admire those who seem to have endless energy for it, and I definitely benefit from the reactions and suggestions I get! For me, all I can say is that I keep coming back every now and then, and I see your photos and think about them, even when I don't "say" much.

Wow! Great angle that creates harmony in the geometry. A bit of sky to contrast the structure and add a feeling of space. Well seen!

Wow! Very special. Good with the many different kinds of light. The soft outside, the dark shadows in the top and the long, softer shadows on floor. The young monk is perfectly placed in the frame of the opening. Colours are wonderful.
  3. A very touching photo. Good to show some environment in the background, we are close to the children and at the same time see a part of their world. Really well done.

Thanks Pnina for taking us on this journey to Mali, it has been both an aesthetic pleasure and food for thoughts to see your photographs.

  4. I find this to be a very good portrait. I think the colours are very good and the subject is interesting. Personally I also especially like the trees in the background. As I briefly skimmed through the comments above I'd also like to add that on my screens Pninas photo looks best. The suggested ones look far too dark.

I also do not have any problems with dodging showing or artefacts, and I think these details are of less importance anyway. If anybody wants to help out by showing how to do it better, fine, but to judge a photo only by such measures seems like missing the point entirely.

This is one where I go oooh! :) Well seen and composed, lovely colour and the way the two men stand out sharp against the background and make it look almost 3D. The last little detail to make it stand out is that we see part of the mans face. It wouldn't have been as good with only the hats showing in my opinion. Very good!
  5. Gustavo, as we live in the same place we can share the pain over this years' horribly long and cold winter :)

The picture above is not from Palsjo, but from Fredriksdal open-air museum. I have spent a lot of time there over the years with my children. Now they are growing up and we don't go that often, but I still have membership in the local museum association to be able to enjoy free entrance to this lovely place. There are a lot of nice photo opportunities too!

Like others said, the light is great! You really succeeded in bringing out her beauty. She is sparkling and at the same time feels real and natural.

I also liked your other portrait of her, with the hand in the light, but there she is distant. Here she is close and really makes contact with the viewer.
