    'The Love Bite'

I do like this one !

The subject of the scene, in the centre of the image, is in clear detail; as is the detail of the couple. The tones and textures of elements such as his skin, her collar, their hair are well captured and finished. Timing for this image, I guess was spot on to capture his expression.

Had she "chewed" him at some time previous to this, on his right cheek ... ?

It looks like you have again positioned place, people, posture, punctuality and prowess to capture a moment of photographic poetry.

    ... one of my favourites.

Hope you are well. Regards Doug

Wonderful image, as Ray commented, the little 'un's expression is brilliant.

Good choice of ISO for this which adds to the whole mood of the "weathered/ageing" scene. I like the balance of the light on the door with the little one's face.

    Well done. Regards Doug

A well composed and caught image with brilliant exposure and finish for colours.

Great commentary! 100 out 7 for effort and persistence in battling the elements, ticks and above all a MackyD!

Incidentally, I really like your portfolio, dramatic and extreme with amazing colours.

    Well done. Regards Doug

I have been past this image a number of times since you posted it, to stop and look and admire it, trying to find the right words to comment on it ..... but I have come too late to this party as everyone has quite rightly "drunk" the words I wanted to use !!

I think the enjoyment of this man, his music and his life appears to radiate from this well composed and captured image. I love the detail and although you have "held" his movement I still imagine him to be quite animated by the love of his music.

Well done and thank you for posting this entertaining image.

Hope you are well. Regards Doug

Fantastic details and tones, and as Laurent says, if only we could see "what light though yonder window breaks" under his beard (... I'm still recovering after Shakespeare's recent 448th birthday celebration here in the UK ... ), but I think this latent detail is part of what adds pleasure to the image.

Your added description of the smell (or lack of) and the context of the character in the scene adds wonderfully to the image.

Well captured Sir, and another lesson in social communication mixed with photographic expertise successfully delivered.

"Bum" or brilliant? I think both, we need variety in life.

Hope you are well, regards Doug

    Perfect in Paris

This is a lovely capture of the perceived romantic image that is unmistakably Paris. I like the perspective you have caught along with the very effective silhouettes. The shadows cast by the  figures adds wonderfully to the mood of the scene ...

... there are a "couple" of things that distract me (I'm a bloke I get distracted easily!) ... there appears to be a vignette / filter effect in the top left and right and bottom right of the image. Is this an effect of the camera or PS Elements?

The majority of the image appears in a monochrome mood, would it benefit with the red element in the mid left frame being cropped out?

After all that I was trying to visualise the horizontal joins in the floor being straightened, but then I think this may upset the position of the figures and turn another structure into the "leaning tower of Paris". On reflection I think leaving the image without "straightening" gives it a nice edge.

Well done and as I said this is still a wonderful image as it stands, and I look forward to seeing more of your work on PN. Hope you had a brilliant time in Paris, I loved it and am so looking forward to going back soon.

    Regards Doug

    This is a hard one.....

As Joseph writes in his critique, the subject may benefit from being placed higher in the frame, but then we may lose some of the items ontop of the display cabinet that help identify this womans personality (I am assuming this is the house she lives in?).

Would the image benefit from being "zoomed" back a bit, to include a bit more of her and her life's belongings? Then we may lose some detail to her face and of her belongings ....

I admit, like Joseph, her position does distract me slighty, but it doesn't take anything away from the effort of your attempt, and the resulting fine image.

Very well done in a tricky situation.

    Regards Doug

A lovely classic Nepalese image of a mother with her baby ..... good composition, lovely colours and details ... even the pink/orange crocs on little 'un are classic.

    Nicely captured and finished.

A well positioned and wonderful capture of, I imagine, an interesting character.

I like the way the good detail of the gentleman (?) is seperated from the background... it looks like he could have been sitting in a studio.

    One of my favourites.

Many thanks for submitting this one

    Hello Milena

I think this is an excellent image, with wonderful atmosphere and perspective.

    One of my favourites.

    Very well done !

Nicely caught, even without the physical and security burdens of travel, this is a classic documentary capture. I guess because of this, for me, it makes it a more edgy image. Fine DOF and range finding provide wonderful detail where it matters.

I like how you have captured the atmosphere of one of the diminishing European railway stations where you can still get cigarette smoke and attitude in your face.

Many thanks for posting this one (of my favourites)

Hope you are well. Regards Doug

Another brilliant capture. Lovely clear composition and detail of the two people with good use of DOF.

Another one of your wonderful trademark images. Postures well captured along with their expressions in lovely detail.

Another favourite of mine. Well done sir!

Hope you are well. Regards Doug

I think it's a great capture just the way it is. To me it conveys a picture of those who have a bit of time (relaxed stance), and those who maybe don't (blur). And what better atmosphere (a warm spring morning) to conduct these time consuming activities.

It would be interesting to see the colour version, but I still think I would still prefer this version.

    Nice one!

    Regards Doug

I have been past this image a number of times without commenting, only because I couldn't find the adjectives to describe it.

I will try now ... wonderful, strong, well composed with lovely detail and colour.

    One of my favourites.

    Regards Doug
