I have to respectfully disagree with you there. I've yet to find a paper which is acid-free and is not marketed as such by the manufacturer. Simply put, most matte finish paper contains trace amounts of acid.

"Should I be concerned and is converting from a narrower to a wider Colour space like this
a viable option?"
Going from sRGB to Adobe RGB is not going to increase the color gamut (as I'm sure you
already know). It's just going to change the color mode. Colors should remain nearly
unchanged. You could probably get away with converting the files to Adobe RGB and no
one would likely know, lol.
"My bottom line is will these files be suitable for CMYK printing after conversion?"
Yes, it should be fine. Designers and printers prefer Adobe RGB for conversion, but CMYK
is a limited color gamut anyway. It's up to you about how critical you want to be about the
color space. I'll tell you, if the photos are going to end up in newsprint, or on the web it
won't make a darn difference.
Commercial photo processors use the sRGB color space. Photos output from them look
perfectly good to me! That being said, I shoot for my stock agency in Adobe RGB usually. I
don't sweat it if my work is in sRGB mode though.

Absolutely magnificent photographs Nick. One term that comes to mind when I look at your
images is expert, precise craftsmanship. The photos are just perfectly processed. Congrats
on your success, and the photos in this month's Conde Nast Traveller look awesome.

Here's a bit more information. I will be using them for full-length portraits with one-two
models. The other lighting I'm considering is a Smith-Victoria 2 light quartz set with
umbrellas (600 watt/each).

Has anyone used either Smith-Victor Softlights or Cool-Lux "Hollywood" Softlight (both
brands seem very similar in design)? I like the industrial design of the lights as setting up
a softbox or umbrella takes time away from a shoot. I'm shooting digital so white balance
is not a factor. I can afford a 2 light (600w each) setup. Is diffussion on these adequate for
quality photos?

Why not just rent a Canon 1.4x? It's going to be more common than the Sigma.
