Well..
I'm a bit astounded by all the responses even though I was pleased as punch with the shot!
Why anyone would give this a 4/4 amazes me..I can't figure it out. It's worth at least a 5!
I agree it could have been cropped but I kinda like it uncropped as well. personal taste I guess.
This was shot with auto focus and the VR was on as this was shot handheld. Every shot (Dozens of them) were dead nuts on and I'm pleased that when I uncovered this creature that I had the mental fortitude to have even set the EV correctly before he flew away.
I think I'll change my name to Sergio Fentoni or something like that!
Thanks Again!

We had a rather intense snowstorm on Saturday and I figured that my
new buddy the short Eared owl would be out hunting cause he'd be
hungry. I did fine him in a tree alonmg the edge of the marsh...but
he was still hunkered down from the weather.

This bird flew round and round me...checking je out as I fired
away...trying to capture the wonderful expressions I could see on his
face...

This was an unexpected first shoot with a new Nikon D2X. Shot hand
held as there was no time for a tripod.

I literally almost stumbled across this seal .5 miles away from any
salt water. He was a friendly fellow and as I chatted with him, he
seemed to be showing off for me.
Captured this morning 1-8-05 with my brand new Nikon 200-400 AFS VR

Captured on a very cold 19 degree Fahrenheit morning when the tide
was at a point where the waves were breaking nicely on the exposed
rocks on the drop off.

A winter Northeaster storm brewing and pushing it's fury onto the
coast of Maine. This was a color shot...it truly was this gray and
nasty outside!

This Coyote blended in almost perfectly as he was trying to sneak in
and stalk a Sand Hill Crane in Bosque New Mexico the week before
Christmas....

While visiting New Mexico a few weeks back to photograph birds, I was
blessed with witnessing this on a very cold 17 degree Fahrenheit
morning....

We couldn't decide if my niece should be called the Coppertone
Girl...or simply innocent..which is what she purveyed this day.

We've been watching this mom and baby swan since shortly after she
was hatched back in May. After many futile attempts, she's finally
become airborne! We were fortunate enough and patient enough to be
there to witness it.

I was fortunate enough to have seen these two fawns earlier in the
afternoon....I staked out the area where I'd seen them and was graced
with their appearance again in the evening. The played and frolicked
nearby for almost a half hour, oblivious to my camouflaged presence.
This was in the wild..not some farm!

These guys were so comical looking with their bright yellow feet...I
was fortunate enough to catch 4 of them all trying to land at once..

I thought that this was beautiful, both through the viewfinder and once I printed it.
I'm thrilled that others appreciate it as well :)

A stunning evening sky after a line of thunderstorms had moved
through during the late afternoon.

It's not often that nature affords me the opportunity to catch a shot like this :)

A beuatiful setting sun on a very hazy day and a fisherman stretching
it to the last rays....
I'd appreciate your comments?
