The Minolta Maxxum 7 DSLR has won the 2004 PMA innovation award for
putting anti shake technology in the camera and not in the lens.
Check out the news article above for the details.

I am currently stationed in SA (Army) and I ride motorcycles throughout the hill country all the time. Going by what you said I am thinking you need to venture out to two towns called Leakey and Vanderpool. There is a road that connects the two called Ranch Road 337. Between SA city limits and Leakey/Vanderpool you are bound to find anything and everything that there is to photo here in South Texas, aside from the Missions which are great too.
Let me know if you would like direct point a to point b directions or directions that will be a bit out of the way but more scenic. Also, about how far out of the city limits are you wanting to drive mileage wise, as Leakey/Vanderpool are a bit out there.

The information about the date model is taken directly from the user manual.

Yep, that's what it says in the manual for my Maxxum 5, the RC-3 doesn't work with the non date back version.

I was rather unimpressed by the vast majority of the photography. I also feel that North America needs to move out of the stone age. All of this black/white, male/female, young/old just needs to go the way of the wind. I could care less what you look like or who you are, if I like your photography I will like it reguardless of your sex, age, race, or religion.
Sorry for the short rant.

Lynn,
Go to www.minoltausa.com and go to the camera support section. I just checked and they have a downloadable/printable manual for the x-7a on their website.

Yes, it is Malaysia (at least that's what the bottom of my 7 says).

The New Maxxum 70...
in Sony/Minolta
Posted
I would stick with the Maxxum 5. The only thing I can see that the 70 has is it is all black. It also has only a roof-mirror prisms rather than a solid glass pentaprisms like the 5. The 5 is still a great camera and in most instances has better features than the 70.
Check out this link (http://www.nefkom.net/miho/foto/minolta/bodies.html) to compare the 2 better.
