Seriously... take these water insect macrots, put them together and make calendars, posters etc... and then retire.

    This is FRACKING BRILLIANT WORK!

My first attempt at sports photography, something I dont generally do,

but I happened to be at the game with my gear.

    Thanks!

  1. As I thought - reports from 2 to 6.

For me, i suppose it was a moment of finding the beauty in a single grain of sand or not finding it at all.

Thanks again for the comments, folks - much appreciated.

Tough call here. Moody, but blown out in places. I like it, I like the

feel, but I also suspect I am guilty of a bit too much PP here.

    Thanks for your critique!

Thanks very much for your critique, suggestions and comments... all

are very appreciated and well used to improve my exposures.

I was hoping for a bit brighter and sharper, but I am still learning how to get maximum DOF with this new lens of mine while also getting sharpness and correct exposure.

The 'creaminess' was, I fully admit, luck. I also like the composition.

    Thanks very much for commenting!

  2. Framing a picture is most certainly NOT considered manipulation.

Theres a whole section in the help materials describing what makes the cut and what doesnt when it comes to tagging an image as 'manipulated'.

For me, when I add or remove a major element to or from the photo, thats manipulation.

Color correction and framing is digital darkroom work.

  3. God yes it was photoshopped!

Use of the digital darkroom is no sin. I think I could have done a much better job with it than I did, but - my specialty is web graphics, not photo retouching, although Im learning!

Here is the original capture, nothing done at all. Feel free to play with it! Id love to learn what techniques I could use to better 'improve' an underexposure of a cool capture.

Thanks for your critique, comments and help! Cheers!

Amazing... as it IS indeed a Centaura according to my wife the Horticulturalist!

I wonder if this plant is native to both regions or introduced to yours... or mine?

I just want to agree with BOTH of the above comments! This was shot handheld sneaking in the grass pretty close to the nest with a 300 IS lens. Its very clearly time for the tripod to come into my life.

When I saw it on the laptop I was so thrilled with the open beak of the youngster and the shadow of his beak on the birdhouse! Just a millisecond earlier I would have captured the parent in sharp midflight right off the house.

Its things like this that keep us shooting I think!

Thanks for the comments folks - very much appreciated!
