  1. I just can not see anything exciting in F6. I don't see any difference other than the multicam 2000 and 11 area AF, and the cheapest Canon can do 45 now. so it's not a deal.

I think F6 should be a hybrid camera that has two back, one for film and one for digital, now that is something that will retake the lead.

  2. When you post on photo.net you usually do not get a stright answer because photographers are artists:)

I am not a photographer so here is my answer:

    1) I print 8X10 using fine jpeg and I can not tell any difference between this and a 5mb pixel one.

    2) Any nikon compatible flash will work on D1 without TTL, if you go with SBX28DX then you have some pusdo TTL but it's not reliable anyway. Why bother, it's digital, put it on A and shoot a test shot, it will tell you all.

  3. Guys

What's with all those self-rightous answers? I am not here to get into a debate as "How to test a lens", rather "Is my 24-120mm VR a OK one?".

"It is essentially meaningless to compare small JPEGs." Sir Mr. Tif guy, do you understand relative comparison? Do you understand that a digital SLR require a lot more optical quality than a film SLR? And finally do you understand that this is 1:1 actual pixel cropped from a large image? Please go back to learn some basic before dropping a two line junk here that serves no purpose than your ignorance.

For the rest of guys, I thank you for your candor and suggestions, but my inital reason to do such test is to see if my 24-120mm suffers the first batch Nikon quality problem regarding the softness. If you guys are shopping for the saem lens, then you would know that a batch of this lense has a serious softness problem and I just want to make sure mine is not in that batch. In other words, whether the softness displayed in this picture is acceptible or defective. Let me say again, I am not here to try to say the 24-120 is as sharp as the 85mm, but rather to show how much difference that is, why would that rub someone the wrong way just puzzles me....

Anyway, peace out and back to dpreview.com

  4. While I was taking the first two, the model is in direct sunlight. The third one was taken after I switch the lens and I believe the sun has been blocked by clounds. (The exposure is actually 1/250 sec, now I remember...)

Good catch, I should use manual WB next time. But I guess the sharpness is not a defect lens issue but rather zoom lens in nature and I have to live with it? I guess os because I need to VR feature, and it does work wonderously...

  6. Beware, a lot of account were hijacked by hacker from europe that list camera items in very low price, this has become more and more often recently, in general, if they do not take paypal, or the price is too good to be true, then it's a scam for sure....
  7. Diego,

All the late Hassy Chrome lens has T* coating, they are just the batch of Hassy lense in transition. I heard these lens has the same optics as the black one. I don;t think they are special and collectible though.

I can not comment on the 40.

  8. Ebay can have very good deals sometime, all it takes is patience.

All my Hassy equipment are from Ebay, So far all of tem are working fine and give no problem. The only thing you need to be careful is the lens, lot of them on ebay are sratched so better ask for return priviledge before bid.

My best find is $59 for a 500C, good as new.
