The Ligget drugstore chain used to sell a small plastic Univex camera for 19 cents that used size 00 film . I used it for several years before moving up to a Kodak Bullet. ($1.09. Never owned a Unisvx Mercury.

I think the shadow of the photographer distracts from what would otherwise be a good moody photo.

Although I have yet to test it I have downloaded an iPhone app that seems to fill the bill. and it saves carrying two devices.

George Eastman Museum is a fascinating place to spend a few hours. There are all kinds of cameras (not only Kodaks0 there. And f you"re a canal buff , the Erie Canal runs through Rochester. And the Eastman School of Music is in town.

I"ve lived in New England all my life and traveled a lot here. Don't disagree with any of the advice here. But would add the following. If your'e going up the Conn. River Valley would take U.S.5 above Springfield MA and zig zag back and forth across the river (NH10 and U.S. 5 north of Mass.). East of Wells river VT take U.S. 302 south to Portland ME. If you're there early in the morning; a ferry cruise around the Casco Bay Islands is a pleasant, scenic break. I'm envious just writing about it. Enjoy

I'm having a similar problem trying to mount an Industar 50mm, f3.5 on a Zorki e. The Industar threads in easily but stops turning about a quarter turn short of the underside of its flange seating against the mounting flange of the Zorki. I have a Leica Elmar 3.5 whose flange seats flush against the Zorki's flange.

Why pick on Florida?

At least we get to see their faces. If they kept working we might not. Or else they might line up in front of the building and we wouldn't have seen what each one did.

I remember a discussion here on Photonet that some of the makrolon was not completely opaque, enough so that all the film was fogged on some cameras. This discouraged me from ever buying one on Ebay But I made do with my Retina IIa.

Both rangefinder and viewfinder windows are large (same size).

I had favorite camera store windows. I felt I couldn't afford to walk inside. Bromfield Street in downtown Boston was a magnet. Also Mass. Ave. in Harvard Square. And I always read the Olden ad in Pop Photography when a new issue came out. Actually bought a few things there. A Kodak Retina I (discontinued). And Jordan Marsh in downtown Boston sold Kodachrome 25 36 exposure cartridges (including a Kodak mail in develop and slide mounting sack) for $3.45 (less than 10 cents a slide. This last fall a 36 exposure roll of Fujichrome Provia 100 was approaching a dollar a mounted slide.

As I aged I realized I need a camera that I can hold and brace against my forehead while I take a picture and I don't know of any phone that would allow mew to do that.

And I think I prefer the perspective of a 35mm equivalent lens. Otherwise a phone would work fine for me.

I bought a Retina I and started taking Kodachromes. I then joined a camera club where we had frequent slide shows. I noticed my slides weren't as sharp as those of Leica users. So I started taking everything at 1/250 sec.and saw this went a long way towards evening up the images.

Thanks fr all the encouragement. I should have added to the description that the camera supports Pictbridge which allows images to b sent directly from camera to printer without having to go through a computer if both are compatible. This would make the photo process similar to using Kodachrom (which I used for years) in that all the editing had to be done before pressing the shutter. We'll see.

What better way to start 2021 than assembling a new camera kit? Some months ago I noticed that there were bare spots on my bedroom wall that might benefit from some pictures. I decide to make some small scene/landscapes to fill the spaces Maybe 8X10 frames matted to 5X7 photos. And why not a new camera to take them?

My first thought was a Leica CL2 but after considering my age account and bank account I thought I would shop around. I stumbled across a mention of a Nikon Coolpix A which was completely off my radar and googled up some reviews and descriptions. The Coolpix was apparently the guts of a DSLR stuffed into a metal point and shoot body.

After reading several glowing articles I decided this was the way to go and looked them up on Ebay. (They were discontinued in 2016.) At the beginning of a week I put in a low bid of $150 for a used Coolpix A just to have Ebay notify me how the bidding was going. At the time most were selling for $550 to $700.To my surprise on Thursday I was notified that the Nikon was mine for $136 The auction hd ended on Wednesday. (Who ends an auction on Wednesday?)

There were a few small scratches but otherwise it seemed OK. But for some reason I checked the internet again and found a new in box one for a buy now price of $108. I hesitated - could I resell the $136 one for at least that much?- for about 1/100 of a second and bought the second one. I received a letter the next day from the seller saying the price quoted was a typo, it should have been $1080

(Nikons original MSRP).

So i shopped around for a users manual, a battery and charger and an eye level viewfinder. (The manual is 257 pages long and weighs 13 ozs, The camera with neck strap and battery weighs 10.5 ozs.) When the weather improves I hope to be able to fill some spaces on the wall.
