Hi, I don`t have any experience with the Sigma28mm, however, if you
have the Zeiss35mm already, the next logical step should be 25mmf2.8.
I don`t think the one stop difference will really make a difference
in wide angle. If you experience difficulty in wide angle end
already, how can you survive in the tele end with Zeiss?

Hello Shun, people often say F5 metering is superior to others, but
in what mode(s)? Are they comparing the things in matrix, central
weighted or spot? Because matrix may not be very useful to somebody
like me. $5000 may not be a hugh price difference, but the weight and
appetite (battery concern) of F5 really makes it like a monster.

If I were you, I would save more money and buy the EOS 3.

I also dream of a camera with 100% AF pt covering, and more
important, without any visible rectangles inside the viewfinder
before focusing confirmed.

I think may be Nikon wants to cut down the numbers of similar zoom
lens in this range. There are already 28-70f3.5-5.6D, 28-80f3.4-5.6D,
35-80f4.5-5.6D, 35-105f3.5-4.5D and the coming 25-105f3.5-4.5D.
Another 28-85D will be redundant.

I have also seriously considered MF several weeks ago, but I
tempoarily withold the idea now. I rented M7 and Pentax645N from my
local store, after seriously tried them for two weeks, I found that I
don`t suit the requirement of shooting MF yet. I am a amateur
photography lover, like you, I shoot mainly landscape, Macro, animals
and some portarit. I learned from M7 that I can`t survive with
rangefinder, problems from using filters, metering with different
lens with different focal length and the presence of the front part
of the long lens inside the rangefinder window annoyed me very much.
For the 645N, it was too far from perfect when you compared with a 35
camera. I intially planned to rent the Hasselblad but I have used too
much patience and energy when I tried the above two, I need some
rest:) Like you, I also like scanning films into computer then
printing them out. If A4 is enough for you, I highly recommend the
New Epson 750, it is close to perfect when compared with my old Epson
600 especially printing people.

Hi, I just want to remind those who are interested in EOS 3 but at
the same time owning a number of inexpensible third parties lens. The
latest issue of PP (GB) has found incompatibility between EOS 3 and
non-HSM Sigma and Tokina. Tamron lens are spared.
-
Hi WS, I am not a Nikon user and I don`t have any experience with the
Sigma and Tamron. However, there was a comparision test for Canon
100mm macro and the Nikon, Tamron and Sigma you mentioned in
Practical Photography (GB) several months ago, they came to the
conclusion that all of them do a good job but the Sigma and Tamron
are the winner for the value of money. As Sigma has a cool look and
it has HSM for Nikon, if I were you, I would buy the Sigma.

Yes, what I mean is "review" as correctly pointed out by Dave.
Thanks, I think I will save some money for a slide projector as I
don`t use to enjoy reviewing slides on a light box.
-
Hello, I haven`t used any medium format before and my knowledge about
it is close to a kindergarten student. May I ask how do you guys
revise the slides taken by medium format? Do projector for medium
format slides exit? Thanks in advance.

Dannis, if you know Chinese, try "http://www.popart.com.hk/",it is
the web site of the above magazine.

The latest Photography magazine"Camera and Photo News" in Hong Kong
has the full details and specialisations of this "beginner" camera.
It has three points (manual select) AF, GN 12 built in flash(A-TTL
and TTL), 90% viewfinder, 360g body weight, motor drive 1 fps only,
multiple exposure (2-9), AF speed of 0.34s and all usual exposure
modes, etc. To me, this camera is definitly inferior to the old EOS
100 although it has got the model no. of 88.

There are certain Zeiss primes especially the wide angle side have
inferior MTF curves than the third party equivalences in the test.
There are also some Zeiss lens with Macro capability are labelled as
not. I personally won`t trust anything from this web site.

To answer my own question, I just bought the new 28-70 zoom after I
played around with the other choices in the local camera shop.
Although I don`t know its quality as I haven`t made any print from it
yet, it is obvious the new zoom has the best body build among others,
both in terms of its two touch design and lighter weight. It is also
interesting that the len has its shortest physical length at the
focal length of 50mm, that means it is longer(only slightly) at its
28mm and 70mm ends in contrast to the rest which the physical length
are proportionally increase from the wide ends to the tele ends. As I
also own the Zeiss 100-300mm, I found this property is really an
advantage.

I have several Zeiss primes and the Zeiss 100-300 zoom, I am absolutely satisfy with their performance. However, I am now considering a wide to mid tele Zeiss zoom to improve my equippment versatility in some situtations (e.g. overseas travel with only one len, photography for indoor parties with flash, etc). There are several choices in this range including the new 28-70f3.5-4.5(325g), 35-70f3.4(475g), 28-85f3.3-4(735g), 35-135f3.5-4.5(735g), they come with different ranges, filter sizes, weights and of course prices. Does anyone has any experience with these lenses and whcih one do you recommend? Thank you!
New Nikon 80-200 2.8D S versus the old non-S version

Yes, the old 80-200 is excellent in terms of optics, but I am afraid
that we are forced to buy the new and expensive one some days later
as Nikon may discontinue the old zoom.
