BTW, she said she tried opening the aperture up from 800 to 1600 just for kicks and that
didnt seem to help either.

My wife owns the 5D she just upgraded from the 20D. Shes having problem with the regeneration speed
on the 580EX. Shes using the canon 24 -70 and a tameron lenses. It seems she'll snap a picture and it
seems to take forever for the flash to regenerate. This was never an issue with her 20D. She shoots in M
and P mode.
I'm just trying to help the misses out, so any suggestions would be helpful.

I've been using the 20D for about 3 months and have about 6 weddings under my belt
with it, and have been impressed with the results until this weekend. There are only 2
things I can narrow it down to. It was pouring buckets and I'm wondering if moisture
may have played a role and secondly I used a brand new 580ex flash. I originally had a
580ex flash but I bought a new one for my assistant and ended up using the new one
myself. I was using the 28-70L which I use quite often.
I started at the brides house and all of those pictures came out great. It wasnt until I went
outside while it was drizzling that I ran into problems. I took a few umbrella shots, and
only a couple came out. Many (60) of my formals came out either soft or just plain out of
focused. I was using aperature priority setting.
I'm going to upload a few of the pictures here in a few minutes but wanted to see if
anyone has run into a moisture problem ( if its possible or just plain user error). Any
thoughts before I post the pictures would be helpful.

Is there an option yet for Canon cameras to do wireless like the nikon
D2X.

We are currently using noiseware using actions plugin in Photoshop on
our imac G5. I've tried running it on my dual 2Ghz G5 as well. The
problem is that it constantly crashes after 20 or so pictures during
batch automation. I downloaded the latest version and I still have
problems. I'm just wondering if maybe theres something just as good as
Noiseware that I can use to batch photos. Thanks

I just wanted to add I used a canon 10d without a flash for this shoot.

So I spent the money on this lens and tried it out all week. I did a
weddding this weekend and had trouble auto focusing. It was very slow
and sometimes did not auto focus at all.
Anyone else have problems with this lens or might it just be a defect
in the lens. The church was fairly bright and I was shooting from both
the balcony in the back and from about 20 feet back. I love some of
the shots I took but many were from manual focus.
-
I'd like to use this lens for some tighter shots in church where its
impossible to get up close. Just wondering if anyone else has used
this lens or possibly has other suggestions. I'm currently using a 10D
550ex flash. I'd probably use a monopod setup for these shots.

I agree on the highlight shadow feature. Wow, unbelievable tool. You'll love the new browser feature. I also love the batch rename feature. Absolutely worth its weight in gold. I wish we upgraded sooner.

We use pictage.com for our wedding clients. They charge .20 cents per picture upload. They do have an unlimited package if you have alot of uploads.

Other than Kodaks lustrecolor there isnt much out there. We are using Pictage because its more compatible with a mac but it is a very nice site and clients seem to like it. It is definitely expensive but your paying for the convenience. I'm sure overtime there will be other services at affordable prices but for now your choices are limited

Has anyone tried generic batteries for the canon 10D? I'm just looking
at replacement batteries on Ebay and looking for a good deal on new
batteries. Is there there any difference? I know some cameras can only
display battery life from its own cameras like sony. Are there any
extended life batteries that I should be looking at? Any battery info
would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Let's assume that the budget for the "lens" in on high end considering the one that I tried this weekend was closer to low and of course I'm expecting the highest quality and widest range of use. All sugestion are appreciated. Even grammar lessons.

I should have mentioned I had both focusing and subject motion problems in the previous post with the 28-80 lens instead of blurred pictures. Sorry. I would think an IS lense would be more suited for my needs for subjects moving from say 40 feet away in dark circumstances. Any info would be appreciated.

I'm using a Canon 10D. I'm basically interested in these two
lenses,24-70/2.8L and 70-200/2.8L IS. I like to be as unobtrusive as
possible. I'll be using this lense for Brides march in a
church,Parents dances, first dance and possibly some candids.
This weekend I used mostly some older canon lenses and I tried out a
Canon 28-80 f3.5-5.6 that I had lots of focusing and blurring problems
with. I got some excellent shots but there were a number of bad
blurred pictures from the 28 -80. The best lense I used was my 17 -40
wide angle that I just purchased I had absolutely no problems.
Any suggestions?

I have iphoto and osx panther. I took some pictures on my Canon 10D. I
can see them perfectly in the lcd display. When I try to import them,
some are imported but others I get an unrecognizable format error. Any
ideas?????

Nope, thats not helpful since she never opened the cf door in the first place. You notice the blank images immediately scanning through them via the camera lcd. We were playing around with it this evening and have noticed it a couple of times on rapid shot.
Great camera though. Extremely happy with after having it for a month now. The new wideangle lens is fast and takes great pictures. I was a bit dissapointed with the cheaper 50mm lens that we got. We had some focusing issues. Since we've been using the wideangle ($700.00 lens) its been a pleasure.
-
I'll forget the lens cap response. As far as the flash not charging fast enough, I dont believe thats the problem either. There is absolutely no picture, when viewing the picture after through the camera it is totally blank. If the flash didnt charge at least there would be something although dark. She wasnt shooting in total darkness.

I know this same scenario was posted from an earlier poster but I just
discovered the same problem. We just got our 10D about a month ago
with 1gig of Sandisk Ram. My wife took the camera to the zoo with my
kids only to find that about 7 to 10 pictures where totally black.
Today while shooting in the house on rapid mode. She shot about 7
pictures consecutively to find that about 2 of the pictures where
black. Absolutely nothing there. Any idea what might be going on here?
She is using the 550EZ flash with a 17-40 wideangle lens. However the
same problem happened with a 28-80 lens. Both times she had the flash
mounted

I've got a dual G5 Powermac running Jaguar. I bought a Dazzle USB card
reader for my 1 GB Sandisk Compact Flash however when I went to import
the pictures into iPhoto the pictures came out fragmented. No problem
importing from my Canon 10D however. Can someone suggest a good card
reader.
Many Thanks

Anyone have a recommendation for a wide angle lens. It would mostly be
used for wedding formals and potentially vacationing panorama's.
Thnx

Adobe makes Encore that is DVD authoring software. Its a professional product and expensive. I'm a mac user and this is a simple process. I'm sure there are a few cheapy products out there. Try versiontracker.com and type in a keyword word search DVD slideshow or something similar. Sorry

I'm wondering how much faster flash cards are over microdrives. If
using the Canon 10D for weddings would a microdrive be able to write
fast enough during candids or from a photojournalistic approach. I've
seen some interesting articles about the 4gig microdrive floating
around and I'm wondering if this would be a feasible idea or should I
stick with the non moving parts flash cards

She uses energizer batteries and she replaces them right before her shoot. Would nickel
batteries make a difference?
