I know this discussion has been proposed many times in the past, but
I plan to buy a DSLR within the week. For awhile now, I have been
leaning towards the Nikon D100, mainly because I've worked with
Nikon systems in the past, and have read good things about the
camera. However, in my last week of research, I've found that the
Canon 10D is equally matched, and may be considered to alot of
people, a better camera. and now, Nikon is coming out with the D70,
an almost cheaper version of the D100. Does now Nikon plan to
replace the D100 soon? and is it worth my money to buy this year old
camera only for a new better one to come out in acouple months? or
is it better to go with the newer canon 10D? any advice would be
greatly appreciated.
16 Bit Tiff's vs 8 Bit Tiff's
in Mirrorless Digital Cameras
Posted
Recently i just purchased a Canon 10D, and have been overwhelming
happy with both image quailty and camera design. I usually shoot
everything in raw mode, and do an initial processing through the
Canon software. However, when i then save the image as a 16 bit
Tiff, i cannot make certain changes in photoshop, or drag the image
into a different document without changing it to 8 bit, thus cutting
the file size in half.
This may be a basic question, but i was wondering if there was an
advantage to 16 bit over 8, and when using the image in another
document, should i be concerned about the downgrade of file size
that takes place when i convert it to 8 bits.
thanks alot
