Thank you for the kind comments. I was lucky on this day because it was rainy and foggy and I thought I wouldn't be able to see anything. But then the rain stopped and the fog cleared up a bit. The ravine is really deep at the view where I am standing and it is off the main trail but when I went down there it looked like something mystical with the waterfall peeking out through the trees almost like out of a tunnel so I more or less put it in the center of the photo.
  1. Taken with the Canon 10-22mm from the "Top of the Mark" in San

Francisco. It was a cold, wild, and windy day. Before the sun went

down it momentarily peeped out from beneath the clouds and I got this

shot. 20 minutes later it was thunder and lightning. Please let me

know what you think, and how to improve. --Thanks

  2. Hi, Thanks for looking and providing any feedback you can. I'm trying

to get better at this and could really use some pointers. This was

taken with a 20D and Canon 70-200mm f4. What do you think?

    Improvements? Thanks --Peter

  3. Took this over Memorial weekend where the weather is still bad here

in Oregon. I think that's good here though because the Crown Point

building (at top of hill on right) stands out against the dark

background. I just barely got this shot as the sun came out for just

a few minutes very late in the day. I was particulay interested in

the layering of the water, hills, and sky. I also like the bright

line of tree in the centre foreground. Columbia Gorge is a beautiful

place. Any comments? How to improve?

Excellent use of light to bring a warm tone to this "organic" shot. The blending of colors from the stairs to the wood make it film-like. Great job!

Very nice lighting with a digital camera -- the sunshine has no hotspots and the shade is not too dark. Very warm pleasing result that looks like a film shot. Did you do anything special to get such even lighting in direct sunlight?
