If I had taken this shot I would have centered the white door in the distance. ... And I would have been wrong!

The textual variety and the off centered composition make this an interesting picture to explore. Thank you for sharing.

  1. I whish I could leave a comment for your whole posted portfolio. I find your portrature inspiring. I have just begun to seriously examine other peoples portrature and I find you are one of the few who will not fear to get in close to your subjects. Your pictures have a great emotional impact. The only distraction I see is the softbox reflection in the eyes. This image has less softbox glare than most of the other images and the eyes realy propell the image for it. I would love to see some of your protraits done without studio lighting. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

Your model is georgous. The lighting sets off her features fantasticaly! (I whish you had detailed your lighting setup) However I find the colored contact lenses distracting. The one portrait you have without the lenses is the best of the lot. Somehow the colored lenses never do look natural.

Most of all thanks for sharing your great work.

Review: Wow. I am new to photography, but no matter how much I learn, photographs such as this will always remind me of my own ignorance.

Why is this photograph good. 75% lighting; Please let us know the lighting set up. 25% expression. What I hate most about photographing people is that as soon as the see themselves int the cross hairs of a camera the truly intresting expression on their face disloves into the usual cr@%%y expression I see in almost every Kodachrome snapshot in my family photo album. In your portrate the subject is not expressing much emotion but is also not staring into the camera. Compare/contrast this aspect with the other photograph posted. This leads us to take more intrest in the subject. When poeple stare at us intently, even if from a photograph, we tend to look away.

I thank you for contribution and all that I have learned from the other comments on this photograph.
