Almost every weekend....

-

I go with:

2 5D Mk2's (all day), 5D (backup only), 40D (ceremony only), 14L, 24L, 35L, 50L, 85L, 135L 100 macro, 24-70L (formals only), 70-200 IS L (ceremony only with 40D), 300 2.8 IS (again 40D only during ceremony in big churches), pair of 580EX's (rarely get used)... All this fits on one rolling bag...

-

I usually crouch down in front as the couples are coming down. I'll have two 5D2's one with the 85L and one with the 35L. Both cameras have been set to manual and continuous focus. I'll primarily use the 85L at around f/1.8-2 and shoot 4-6 shots of each couple coming down. I then edit it to one full length and one 3/4-1/2 length shot. I'll do the same when the bride comes down but usually shoot at least 8-10 if not more and edit that to half. I get the grooms reaction too. A few quick shots of the give away and I'm gone from the front...

I wouldn't shoot them if I didn't think they were fun...
Even better when I can combine wedding and nature photography!
2. 35L
3. 70-200 2.8IS/300 2.8IS (both only used during the ceremony)
4. 24L, 135L, 14L, 24-70L, 50L

I left it on with my 500IS and still do with the 600IS as well. The IS is pretty good in the Big teles...

What do I use at weddings?
14L, 24L, 35L, 50L, 85L, 100 macro, 135L, 300L 2.8IS, 70-200L, 24-70L (once in a while...)
These go on a pair of 5Ds, a 40D and a 20D.

Mostly I'm in the front but sometimes I go somewhere in the middle if the venue allows:

I shoot with a 5D and have all the L primes from 14mm to 135mm (also sometimes use a 300 2.8IS). Throughout the day I end up using them all... Though probably 80-90% of the time it will be the 35L and 85L.

There are some nice places around St. Norbert University. Or there are some places down by the Fox River. Several nice parks along the river. Also might be fun to wander downtown using buildings for backgrounds.

You gotta love three bella ads on each page!
-
I use the 35L on my 5D. Once in a blue moon I use the 24-70L
-
I use almost all primes. I have all the L's between 14 and 85 as well as the 300 2.8IS. The only zoom I use is the 70-200...
-
I've started using my 300 2.8L IS at weddings. Paired with my 20D I can get in on the rings and kiss w/o being there. Normally I shoot with a pair of 5Ds with fast primes or the 70-200.

Hi Dave! :)
Yea, Overture is awesome! The Capitol is great too. Done a couple e-shoots there. Got any fast primes?
-
Two cameras around my neck at all times is the norm for me. One 5D has a 35L and another 5D has a 85L. Each has it's own strap. In an emergency I have a 20D in the car...
-
Not sure. I didn't know till I got there and the ranger came by and told us. Best to call ahead.

If you shoot in a state park you need to sign a "Commercial Use Application and Permit" and pay $30. It's good in all state parks and good for a year. Discovered that the hard way at a wedding this past June...

Hmmmm.. I don't see much off I-94 between them... I did one last year in Lake Mills. They have a few nice trails and a lake. The downtown is nice too...

Have to agree with Marc. This lens (1.2L II) is killer for unposed stuff and low light. That's the whole reason for getting it (aside from the awesome portraits and creamy OOF areas...)
-
I go to a wedding with no less than 3 bodies. I have my primary pair of 5D's and leave at least a 20D in the car for emergencies. Lenses I am triple redundant with primes and zooms. Flashes I have at least three 580EX's. As a professional we should be prepared...

Funny, I have a 14mm on the way for my 5D... :)

I just had one last weekend that had 31!!! Thank god the altar had steps. I haven't processed the pictures yet otherwise I'd show you.

Prime lens for Wedding Procession? If so, which ones?
in Wedding & Event

For the procession I shoot with two full frame bodies. One has the 85L and the other will have the 16-35L. I'll start by
using the 85 when they're far away and I can fit them in the frame and continue shooting with with it as I get more close
up type shots. These will all pretty much be vertical pictures. If there are any kids in the wedding I'll shoot with the 85
and when they're close I'll switch to the body with the 16-35. When the bride comes down I'll shoot the same as the kids
except I might shoot a couple horizontal images as the bride first steps into the main area. All of these images are shot
using continuous focus.
