The 17-35L Canon lens was a big disappointment to me. Very soft on the
edges at 17,20,28mm. I've look around and done a lot of testing of
various lenses in these focal lengths. Finally decided to return to the
20-35 L Canon. Nothing between this lens and the 20 f2,8. And much more
flexible too.

I've tried several loupes over the years while teaching photography here. I use 35mm slides. I eventually settled on a PEAK anastigmat 7x (no. 1990-7) which I purchased from B &H Photo. It gives excellent definition, good lighting, and full frame viwing. I recommend it.

The 28-135 IS lens is nice and the IS very handy. It's rather soft in
performance at 135mm though. I wouldn't buy one.

As a nature photographer I use the 20-35L and the 70-200L, with the
excellent Canon 50mm macro & 100 macro for my work. This is all I need.
Excellent lenses all.
