thinking up to $1500. Don't care too much about size of screen. More interested in reliability and performance. Of course screen quality matters as well.
thanks.

I'm looking into joining one of them to access their professional
insurance packages.
Any thoughts on either of these groups?
Thanks,

I'm a professional photographer specialized in Still Photography on
movie set and wedding photography.
My work is almost fully digital these days. I use a Sony Vaio
Desktop computer I share with my husband but need a dedicated
portable digital darkroom. It also doesn't have a DVD writer which I
desperatly need when shooting RAW files.
I need to invest in a lap top where I can upload, edit, and use to
back up my images onto cdrs and dvds.
What should I look for when buying a lap top?
I would prefer going PC for the cost but would consider Mac.
Any advice would help.
Thank you!

Gary, I shoot weddings all the time and wouldn't hesitate to use 400ISO for a reception at night. I use 400ISO for whenever I'm shooting indoors when the bride is getting dressed, indoor ceremonies, and indoor receptions, or those that go into night.
For weddings I always shoot Kodak Portra NC (Natural color) but have used the NPZ before on film sets and loved the results as well.
But not doubt in my mind about the speed, it's got to be 400ISO.
Good luck!

Los Angeles based photographer looking for used Canon 10D Sound blimp
to buy before February 20th. Jim Jacobson who makes them is back
ordered for the 10D and it would cost me close to half of the cost of
a new one to rent one through Samy's.
I would rent one from a photographer if cheaper than the $60/day
Samy's rate, but would prefer to buy.

I'm a Los Angeles based professional photographer in need of

renter's insurance isn't right.
Help on this topic appreciated!

I need to start insuring my equipment. I live in Los Angeles. Any
advice? I have heard it is best to insure one self through ppa, or
other photographer's association as they have better packages than
unspecific insurance companies. Where to start?
Technical Advice needed for a studio T-Shirt shoot
in Lighting Equipment
Posted
Hi, I am a professional photographer mostly working on film set
working with the D.P's brilliant lighting, and at weddings working
with natural light and an hotshoe flash.
I have been asked by a friend to do a studio like shoot for her new T-
shirt company for her site. Here is basicelly what I am trying to
accomplish :

I'll be using my Canon 10D. Of course my friend is on a tight budget!
Any advice on the type of light/flash/strobe I should rent. I am
thinking one flash with a soft box high but facing the model and two
bounce cards on each side, with a white background.
I haven't shot in a studio environment since college, 10 years ago,
so any help would be appreciated!
Thank you-
Christel
