  1. I have been trying to upload new photos since my morning ( Italy) without success.

    I get this message:

We had a problem processing your entry:

There was a problem with the database

I have tried everything; re-saved the images for WEB, though this was not necessary in the past, yet I get the

    same message.

    Please, help. Thanks

  2. Chuck,

I am a poet and a photographer. I have been posting my poetry for critique to a variety of poetry boards; there are a lot and very tough. No chance to have your poetry portfolio, though. The solution can be a Blog where you can post both your portry and upload your images and create an archive online.

Anyway, if you are interested in serious critique of your poetry try here:

    http://65.18.154.219/alsopreview.com/cgi-bin/gazebo/discus.cgi

    ( not for beginners)

    and

    http://www.everypoet.org/pffa/index.php?

where there are forums for all levels of expertise in writing.

    Good luck.

    Paula

  3. I have realized it just today ( and noticed it on many pages I clicked on). It seems I have a customized page and so there is a link to redirect. When I click there, though, the black background I put about two weeks ago has disappeared. Did I use naughty HTML?

    Thanks

  4. Out of curiosity I checked the Rate Recent Sum over one year and

after the first and second and third page, I had to reach the 500th

photo and admit that yes, this particular search gives 99.06% of

nudes and, yes, favorite photos here seem to be nudes. The

exceptions are a tiger that looks quite bewildered and dressed, two

dressed women who will have to undress to be in tune with the rest

and another shot. The number of ratings? Stunning, going from over

200 to a minumum of forty and something.

I have nothing against nudes; honestly there are remarkable shots in

these pages; what amazes me is to see how they seem to be by far the

privileged kind of photos and the most rated.

Guess that a nude landscape or nude bird or nude abstract are by far

less interesting than a nude body. Jeez you never end to learn.

  5. I'd like to go back to the main point of Maria's thread: anonymity.

    Anonymity favours cowardice, period.

The new system to select the images to appear on the TRP is all right in some respects:

it does offer more exposure to more photographers and offers a greater variety of names

and images. This said, however, the main question remains: why concealing the names

of those who rate through Critique Recent?

I read it's done to avoid vengeance rating. Come on, this is childish. 90% of very low raters

are imaginary people or subscribers who don't exhibit any portfolio; people who enjoy

giving 1/1 or 2/2 just for the sake of a game whose purpose I miss.

Besides, in case a low rating is given by someone who has got undeniable talent

this can be useful and indeed can favour a constructive exchange and a learning process.

Certainly if the low rating is accompanied by a comment, this is by far more valid.

Comments, in fact, are more valuable than the rating itself either when positive or negative.

If an image works, I like hearing why; the same is true in case it doesn't work.

  6. Hi Peter, it happens very often; the first to rate are often people who registered one, two days before, have no photos and vote very low. It seems they are no longer anonymous, but what do they care? I suppose it's a game for them and, maybe, it provokes a sort of sadistic pleasure. I also noticed that they rarely use 1/1, which the system deletes; they want their low ratings to stay. Personally I think the photo of the child is a good one; maybe you could object on originality, say it's average; but the expression is good, the photo is well executed. It certainly doesn't deserve 2/2 or 3/3, IMO.

What to do? Ignore them; that's what I do after the first three minutes' irritation.

  7. Hi Lisa, how did you find the site? I have found two of my photos in the archives and many other Photo.net photographers', Biliana R., R. Carli, J. Peri and others.

It's true he gives credit for the photo, but I don't think it is legal to use the photos without permission. I'll contact him. Thank you.
