I guess I'm posting this to illustrate that it doesn't really matter

the quality of lens or sensor when it comes down to shrinking a photo

    to 600 pixels wide.

The shadows are throwing me off. Who/Where is the shadow on the far right coming from? It doesn't seem to line up. Were these shadows added later by yourself?

I was asked by a friend to do a headshot for an acting portfolio. I

did a little acting when I was younger so I kinda knew what was

required. So this is my first attempt at something like this. I

don't have much experience with a studio setting, but my friend let

me use his lights. It's a very basic portrait, but I think this one

ended up being very natural. We didn't spend any time on makeup,

hair or wardrobe. I just shot him the way he was.

Just wanted to add one more comment on your photoshop job. I noticed that you blurred the ground that would otherwise be the area in focus. I can see a little bit that you missed just around the edges of the bride and groom. It would be really neat if you could post a copy without this work done to compare it's effects on popping out the subjects. Was the texture of the 'in-focus' ground distracting?

Love the location and the depth. Beautiful women. A subtle change in their positioning and expression might have made it a little more romantic. I'm not sure exactly what to change. I'm no expert. But you are SOOO close to nailing it. I am impressed!
  1. Ok.....I've just seen this on the Discovery channel. This guy has got the world record for being in freezing water for an hour without moving. So cool that you got to see this. His face is a look of full and complete consentration.

I do like the skin tones in this one better than your other one that you posted. They are more dreary and fit more with the emotion of the picture

Everything in this photo is perfect, 'cept one thing. Her skin is just a little too smooth. Put that airbrush layer on top of the original and let some of that original skin show through with some transparency. Other than that . . . STUNNING!

This is your best and most profesional of your portraits.

  2. I would hope that you would mention that the picture of the girl (Hilton) isn't your own picture. One might think that you've taken that picture yourself. It IS an interesting picture in that it caught my eye because I just saw this picture in a magazine the other day. Thought maybe the original photographer had time and was acutally posting here on photo.net. Then I saw the blurred women in the foreground and it all came together.
