Love this detail on my car, so today I had to photograph it. I know I

might be able to do it more justice, but try the picture as a desktop

background, at least I liked it.

    Will report abuse.

    Don:

It's taken at f1.8, focus is about 1cm deep at this lenght from the subject...

Sometimes I fell like not many people have a lot of experience with wide apertures.

Focal lenght 200mm, I stood 2,5m from her, minimum focal distance.

  1. Dhiren:

Well you should see the original slide, it's pin sharp, the scanned image is also good, but when I saved it for web use I did not see the slider where you choose the quality, if set to full the picture is nice, but here it's set to half...

Also this shot is taken about 200m from the houses (at least) shot in the middle of the night at F16 if I remember correctly, at F16 at a distance of 200m the point of focus is probably from 16m to infinity, so it's impossible here, everything will be in focus, we are not talking about macro work here:)

The levels are not adjusted, this is how my scanner scaned it! The lightning was wery varm inside. I guess I should fix the levels in the software a little...

    I guess she liked it.

I used the high aperture because I wanted the flas to mainly be fill in.

A candid photograph of my brothers friend Alexi. Taken with EF 200mm

    F1.8L @f1.8

Comments? Observe the extremely shallow DOF.

As usual I hope for your comments.

    Thank you all!

You are so right about the lamp on the left, I felt that the left side was so cluttered that I cut it away, a obvious mistake...

Caught this picture of Hania in September 2003. There are some issues

about it I don't like, and of course some I love, so please you

    comments and reviews please.

I expect comments, especially if rated below or 3/3. If I suspect

ABUSE I will report it. By doing this we serious photo.net user can

assure we have a better site.

    Thank you all sofar!

What a 10+ comment! Thank you wery much! I agree with you, the islands lacks a litle punch, and the person (my girlfriend) is a bit to far away, but she was more intrested in us spending some quality time together than me taking shots:) I'ts a shame that the Islands where not closer together.

But mothernature shots are normally more difficult to capture, than controlled indoor situations.

Out on the Ice in Helsinki archipelago, the conditions could not have

been better, a blue sky with some white high altitude clouds, and the

evening mist creeping up on you.

As usuall please leave a comment, the image is unmanipulated, unfiltered.

    I expect a reason/explanation for ratings below 3/3 otherwise it's no

idea giving a photograph bad ratings, if you can't explain what's

wrong with it, and I will interpret this as ABUSE.

    Thank you all!

    Regards

  2. The staute silhuetted here is Finlands war hero "Fältmarshalk"

Mannerheim. He led the Finnish forces in WW II against the Sovjet

Union. It's amazing that such a small nation as Finland could do so

    well against the Sovjet Union.

All Finns feel a sense of patriotism when confronted with the

Mannerheim Statue across the Finnish Parliament along the "Mannerheim

    Road".

This image displays Mannerheims statues shadow agains the Museum of

Modern Art in Helsinki, the capital that all Finnish soldiers fought

so bravely to defend, agains the Bear from the East.

Taken a February afternoon, at f1.8. I waited for the silhuette to

move towards the red windows, as a marker of the blood spilled.

I love your comments, wish more of you guys would wright a comment.

I will not accept any ratings under 3/3 without an explanation, and

    will see this as ABUSE!

    Thank you all!

The torch is actually onboard the fishing boat.

Exposed on a cold winters day in Ekenäs Finland.

Demonstrates the effect of the EF 200mm f1.8 L lens.

Please give a comment as well.

    Blue, mushroom?

          1

Unmanipulated, unfiltered. 1/8sec @ f1.0. Handheld to capture mood.

Not pin sharp I know, but this was the idea.

And as usual, please wright me a few words, especially you guys who

will automatically will rate it at 3 or below.

    Thanks!

Well, winter in my small hometown in Finland.

This line of "Pålar" (Swedish word) caught my eye. They where shot on

a snowy/rainy day to capture the mood of winter.

The shot is 800/1 at F1.8 at 200mm.

In reality its pin sharp at the focus point, but my scanner is not so

    good.

    Unmanipulated.

And all you guys who will rate this picture at 3 or lower, please

    explain why.

    CoCo

          4

    As usual request for qritique.

And please right a line what you think, especially you guys who give a

    "3" for originality and esthetics!

  3. Well my scanner sucks!

To get such a detailed shot like this one sharp on the web, I think I will have to scan it in bmp, or tiff at 2900dpi, but that will make it a 30mb file, believe me it looks sharp on the slide.

So please remember this in your ratings, don't look at it as it is just a soft image and give it a 3! I think it's woth more than that....
