Where has everyone gone on this site. I haven't been back for a while but only 22 online and the last post a week ago. So sad.

It feels like the disappointment you have when you find the $5 Rolex from the street vendor is not a genuine Rolex. Were you impressed by her portfolio, client references?

Hector, if they truthfully, actively accept Christianity, they are directed by doctrine in what to do and what is right in their lives, they can not pick and choose, its out of their hands. Calling them bigots, is to condemn people for just doing what they have been instructed. I don't think they would hate the wedding or the couple, but feel very uncomfortable supporting something forbidden within Christian doctrine.

I don't allow the bride to choose her photos, I do the initial design of the album then at the 1st viewing invite them to change anything they want. Some change a photo, rarely more than 1 or 2 photo changes. I allow some pages blank for them to advise on family group shots otherwise all the rest is the cream of the day. So the album is made and collected one month after the wedding, all done.

Of all the things to worry about. You must have heaps of spare time to waste on FB. I check out FB once every few months and always regret doing so. I unlike FB.

I agree with Vail, I would prefer the couple interact rather than pose. So I dont see this as a problem. Unmoving, blank poses would be a problem.

I use NIK from scratch and generally increase contrast and localised (with layer mask) local contrast for black & whites.

Years ago I had a videographer whom set up a fence of tripods (3 tripods but the camera was only on 1) to block the asile and only 3 metres from the bride. I still got my shots but from less advantagous positions. After the wedding the bride asked me to give the video man all these ceremony shots as he had somehow lost all that footage. Of course I did.
Just smile and wave.... smile and wave.

My image originally posted here on PN is now being used without my permission by the Romainian pop group Stigma on their CD
Stigma “Copilul rau” (“The Naughty child”)
I found this using tineye. I am sure they would hate people stealing then selling their music.

Funny, I dont think anyone (other than perhaps Jack) has actually improved on Athena's original. I certainly dont think you should make a white dress grey. I wonder when is blown out white really too much.

I have photographed so many church weddings where cameras and flash were allowed. Does this mean they were less sacred? Did God disapprove of their ceremony because of the less orthodox priest / minister? I do believe some officiants are a law unto themselves sometimes.

Ditto Neil
Insert CF card with RAW files, upload to HD; 15mins for 8GB, then import into Lightroom 30 secs.
I thought I had a long wait.

I dont use the 35 (on a full frame) for portraits of indivuals but I will use it for 90% of the wedding, including full length of the couple etc. Sticking to a set focal length helps me think for composition.

-

I often need my monopod during dark receptions. I only use a tripod for HDR, stitched panoramas and still life in studio, never at weddings. I would rather use a monopod in dark enviroments than on camera flash.

I do exactly what Steve C. does and let them design there own package. It works out well for everyone and everyone gets what they want.

Canon 35L is my wedding lens, sometimes I use a fisheye for effect. Keeping to one lens lets me think in 35mm, for framing etc and at f1.4 I can shoot in a cave. I do zoom but with my legs.
-
Just like the other advice here, behave as you wish them to behave. I am quite nervous around strangers or was until I began photography. Like an actor I come out of myself, mingle, enjoy myself and smile, (my face hurts from the smiling after a wedding,) and I get smiles back, it works.
-
Oh Michael I feel slightly ill just contemplating your flub, may it never happen again.
-
I will do 95% of the wedding with the 35L with my legs doing the zooming.
I do some fisheye shots and some ring / cake closeups with a macro. I like
to 'think' a fixed field of view and I do need the sharpness for some cropping
and large wall prints. The Canon 35mm f1.4 L is a smart lens.

Sometimes I use photoshop. Make a duplicate layer, edit, transform, scale. Just pull the image in maybe up to 5%. Its not enough to be noticed (long faces) but everyone just lost 10KG. This really works well on face shots too, adding youthfulness.
It might seem like faking it but it just as valid as using b&w, non normal lenses, saturated colours, a vignette etc.

If I am confident that I have perfect lighting conditions then I shoot RAW. Otherwise its just RAW. I am after a great image and part of that is post processing. I am just glad RAW enables so much flexibility.
Is this site even functioning properly???
