300-400mm is enough if you have a good position and hopefully decent light. Something I have personaly done if seen is just sit down especially if there is tall weeds. I have had does trot over to find me, I would stand up and watch them run off then sit back down and sure enough they would run right back.

Definitley get the grad ND. I would be suprised if you were not happily suprised with the results compared to shooting without one.

Price Lake had some color on Oct 09,Hawksbill is weak in color but Grandfather Mtn was showing some reds on the 14th. Great Smoky Mtns Nat'l Park-Cataloochee has some color-yellow,orange,some red but yes all very weak in intensity compared to the usual show of fall.<div></div>
