1. There are two types of representation of GN for speedlite: 'feet' in

USA and 'meter' in the rest of the world (?). The GN 160 of your SB-26

is obviously in ft rather than meter. the GN of SB-26 in other

    countries is represented as 36 (ISO/ASA 100. m at 35mm focal length).

Please bear in mind that GN is determined ralative to the test

condition such as focal length/angle, sensitivity of the film used and

the max. distance in ft/m the flash can reach at full charge. Without

those units, the GN is meaningless. Sometimes we do see people talk

about GN without unit, this may be because GN is generally refered to

as "ISO/ASA-100.ft or m". As for the speelite G of GS-1, I am not sure

    if the "32" is determined at ISO/ASA 100.m with a '35mm lens-that is

super-wide for a 6X7'. However, if you try it you will know the

Speedlite G is only marginely weeker than your SB-26 of NIKON. For a

non-handle type speedlite, a GN 32 is very powerful.

I am afraid, the answer to your 2nd Q would be 'NO'. You may only get

TTL flash by using its own speedlite G. In fact, we have not seen so

many MF cameras ever made equipted with TTL flash (I know some latest

models do). This might be because many MF users (probably most are

pros) prefer the more accurate handhold meter rather than TTL. Metz

has produced a few SCA modules for Mamiyas not Bronicas. Sunpak does

have two modules designed for TTL working with ETR-Si and SQ-Ai but

    not with GS-1 unforfunately.

Hope this helps and good luck!

  2. Just see this "old" discussion and want to add a bit more:

    (1) the simply answer for the original question would be NO, no such a 6 x 7. Mamiya RB/RZ do have a motor, but we have not see it popularly used by RB/RZ owners;

    (2) a point related to the answer from Rene (Not@Valid.com) who said 'The GS-1 has no motor drive and spot metering'. The 1st half is correct but, GS-1 does have a spot meter which equipted in its rotary AE prism finder G, which is very accurate and also can work as a handhold type.

  3. Hi,

I got a response from Sunpak recently about the Q I asked above and would like to share this with those might be interested.

    I asked:

    >I have a 622super and wonder if the available BR-1D module will support

    >the dedicated interface (TTL) between the 622 and Bronica GS-1. Thank

    >you for your help.

    Sunpak answered:

Sorry, no. The BR-1D supports the ETRSi and SQAi. the GS-1 uses a different

system, which we do not support- as yet, there is insufficient demand.

From the info I have collected, I would make a conclusion here that The TTL of GS-1 appears to be only limited to use of its own speedlite (GN = 32, ISO100 m). I have a feeling that there are very a few who use GS-1 in TTL. I have decided to get a handhold flash meter and use 622 manually. BTW, thanks a lot for those who have contribute a help to this Q.

  4. Hi,

I recently bought an outfit of GS-1 including an AE rotatory finder G which equipted with spot and average metering. I have a Sunpak 622 flash and wonder if it is possible to get TTL with it conected to the GS-1. I could not find any about TTL flash from the GS-1 manual, nor has Sunpak released a DX shoe dedicating for GS-1 (there is one for SQ-Ai thought, can this work with GS-1?). Thanks for your help!
