  1. Bluegrass photography is pretty laid back...pretty nice people. I shoot a few

CD covers for bands and attend a lot of bluegrass performances, where I always

shoot a bunch of shots. I am planning a website to promote my CD covers and

band shots, but would like to put up some of my shots from other events. A

result from this could be the sale of some photos to the public. Do I need a

release or is this photo considered mine? I researched concert photography

but couldn't find anything on this. Tks...bob

  2. Hello...I have a young neice planning to attend Northumbria

University this fall in Newcastle England. She has an interest in

fashion photography. Anyone have any knowledge of how the

photography program or degree is rated or regarded? Thanks for your

input in advance. Bob Hollifield Atlanta Ga USA

  3. hello...can anyone tell me how they take their monopod when flying

within the US? I'm thinking about sticking it in my luggage. Don't

think I can carry it on with me LOL..Tks for your help..bob

  4. Lex, it's funny how if you read the posts on here, a lot of your questions are answered. Yesterday I was thinking about upgrading from my D70 to a 1X or 2h to maybe improve my images. I'm not a pro, age 66, but I enjoy photography for many years...F3HP, Pentax 645, FM2...now using kit lens and/or Tokina AF28-70 F2.8 AT-X, and my 80-200 Nikon 2.8AF with my D70. Now shooting bluegrass shows..shot a CD cover for one of the bands..etc, just having fun. Now I'm thinking instead, upgrade my glass for the medium range shots 10ft to 20ft based on your comments. Any suggestions?? ...need good depth of field for bluegrass shots f6 to f11 and lite isn't always good..don't like to use my sb800 in their faces. Tks for any input..bob
  5. While shooting I noticed my single image review had changed to

thumbnails on my D70. I have read the manual over and over, and

tried to convert back by using the button on top behind the shutter

release. I've reset all my defaults back to day one but the only

review image I can get after an exposure is multiple thumbnails.

    Any ideas from anyone?? Tks..bob

  6. Dan, I use an SB28 (not DX) with my D70 in A and S. Seems to work pretty well, although I can't get my histogram to make that perfect peak...but I'm beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be worth it to get the 600 or 800 so I could use iTTL, which should be a lot better. Anybody else got any ideas, please share. tks..
  7. I bought a D70 3 months ago and haven't asked a question yet....however I do read other questions and responses...also Magic Lantern and the manual. My F100 was stolen, hence the D70, but I still have my 25 year old F3 and FM2. It's all fun...the nice thing is I now shoot 10 times as much with my digital because it doesn't cost anything...experimentation is now easier.
  8. Hi Jennifer. I'm a better than average photographer (not compared to pro level however). I use a F100 50mm 1.4D 80-200 2.8D lens SB28 flash. But we picked a wedding photog for my daughters wedding based on their previous work that we looked at. I would have preferred film over digital for archival issues but in the end we chose the photographer versus the medium. He was digital, had great equipment. I paid him $300 extra to give us the cd's at high res vs just for viewing on the internet. We paid this in addition to his regular "best" package price. I've been reading this forum for 1 1/2 yrs and this photog was a "people person", very laid back and easy to work with. He told me he had a ball shooting my daughters wedding and I can tell you I have already referred him to a friend's upcoming wedding in Feb. By the way I supplied this guy chicken in the afternoon while shooting formals to keep down the "hungry jitters" and made sure he ate with us at the buffet that nite. He was as much a guest as a worker. Good luck with your decision...in my opinion it's a package the photog offers, attitude, competence and fair pricing. Bob Hollifield
