Thanks Mark, but it certainly wasn't my idea either. There was a photo-of-the-week here of a leaf that was a scan as well (and much better than any of my stuff). I've also seen scan portfolios over at Photosig.

This is my first scanner (incredibly cheap ~$100), but I'm still pretty amazed at the resolution achieved, especially if I go beyond the 7mp specs and make really huge scans letting the scanner do interpolation (which it seems to do very well). I can enlarge and enlarge and enlarge the result and still see clarity and detail. The lighting is usually less than flattering, and I get alot of shots that look absolutely horrible, but there's probably someone out there making alternate lighting tubes for these things.

p.s. I'm really impressed by your portfolios of photos here. Some of the best work I've seen. I'd love to see your scanner work. My guess is it's alot better than mine.
