Zeiss has announced the Sonnar 50/1.5 in M-mount.

The camera is a Leica IIIf. A quick googling reveals several manuals online, like this.

Now why didn't that work? Anyway...

A great combination.

Just reminding that perspective depends on object distance and nothing more... but I don't like crop factors either.

The viewfinder placement out on the left side on an M is great for us left-eyers. It was a whole lot worse using a Nikon SLR.

Try to venture away from Gamla stan and the city after a while. I'm partial to Södermalm (but maybe that's because I live there...). Some pics.

Duh, of course the shutter travels from right to left. Forget about that!
-
Check the shutter. I had a Nikon (with a Leica-like shutter) that had curtain "bounce"
sometimes, on some higher speeds, that looked just like this. It shows up as a double
exposure in the left part, as the second curtain moves from left to right and the image is
upside down inside the camera.

M3, M4, Summicron 35 (3rd), Summicron 50 (DR), CV 50/1.5, M-Hexanon 90/2.8, CV 90/3.5 (for sale!), Gossen Digisix.
Typical usage: M4 with 35, M3 with 50 or 90. Neopan 400 in one, Fuji 100 slide in another.
-
I have a CV 35/2.5 "C", but it's now on loan and I bought a Summicron 35 (2nd) instead. Why? The ergonomics. I never got a good grip on the focus stick of the CV, while the Summicron concave tab is perfect.

OK, got the camera back today. The focus and shutter seem just fine now, I'll get back
with some pictures after the weekend. I paid 1200SEK (about $170, with the current low
exchange).

Thanks for the offer Lynn, but I already found this! http://tinyurl.com/3sq8p

Sure, here he is: http://www.lpfoto.se/swe/butiken/reparationer.asp
I don't think there's any flash functionality. Werner thought something had come loose. I'll
keep you posted.

Thanks for your reply! I've got the older one with the wheel. The meter actually seems to be totally dead, but that doesn't bother me too much, I'm used to external meters now thanks to my Leicas.
I just called the service guy here in Stockholm (Werner Schaden), he said he's been working with them for 40 years, just bring it in! So I will...
-
Today I was given a Contaflex Super by a colleague (gee, thanks!) It's
in a very nice exterior contidition but the abandoned roll of
Kodacolor II found inside gives away what it has been doing for the
last 25 years.
Now, the focus won't go further towards infinity than about 2.5
meters. There's a quite solid "stop" feeling there. Otherwise the
focus is smooth but a little stiff. The shutter/aperture/mirror
interlock seems to work OK, but the shutter is slow below 1/30.
Is this focus problem a common problem, or should I expect my local
serviceguy to suggest it as paperweight?
-
I have a standard Luigi case that I use on either my M3 or M4, depending on which one I
carry along in my bag. To me, the grip is improved and it eliminates the risk of denting the
lower body part. But I don't use the strap, straps always tangle up and get in the way.
-
Obviously there can be banding in both directions. Vertical banding may come from
irregular curtain speed or variable slit width, horizontal banding may come from a jagged
slit. Imaging a slit looking like this: >< travelling along the film.
-
You may also want to check the LP-foto auctions in Stockholm. Plain M2's and M3's go for
around 3000 SEK ($400). Or rather: please don't, help keep the prices down...!
-
Hey Al, my M3 rewind knob stays up when I pull it up, and down when I push it down... it
also doesn't slip while rewinding! Does this mean I really have an MP <grin>!?
