  1. Hi Mason,

I am using Imageprint with 2200 and I cannot remember last time I did soft proof.

Part of the reason is that they have profiles for different light conditions (daylight, tungsten, fluo and at least one that is "universal".

So far to my experience prints looks as close as I can see on my monitor and that one is calibrated with QuickGama utility (so no fancy devices there)

I am still shooting slides so I can compare print with slide and monitor.

I think that they are offering 30 day refund so if you do not like it you can return it.

  2. I will agree with Beau. I am using it for color prints and it substantially reduces bronzing on glossy and luster papers.

It is much, much better than Epson print driver.

For 2200 it comes in "light" version (does not have color correction and template features enabled) and it is app. $495 US.

Do keep in mind that there is 30 day money back option as well.

Before installing it read detailed instructions first as install for 2200 uses slightly different settings.

  3. Hi Doug, I am glad it worked. Now as for tech support, it all boils down to the money. To all Software and Hardware manufacturers support is additional cost so they could not care less about quality as long as there is someone to pickup the phone (outsourcing anyone?)

Typically low paid jobs with high turnover of staff.

On the bright side, here are links that might be useful....

  4. Hi all,

I am using Minolta Dimage 5400 for 4 motnths now and I am very happy with it.

    I have dual P3 886mhz, 1gb ram and 2 separate usb 2.0 controllers.

Scanning at 5400 is fast provided that grain dissolver and ICE are off. (with gd and ICE takes a bit longer)

Speed depends on density of negative/positive as well.

I have used it with Minolta software and Vuescan.

If you are going to scan slide film, do not frame it, cut it in strips and use it in negative holder. This will give you much more flat surface and sharper scans.
