I have read that the Elan II flash exposure compensation is
added to the "automatic" reduction. So you could set the
flash exposure compensation to +1.5 stops and you would be
back at zero... it takes a lot of button pushing and fumbling,
and is prone to errors since there is no easy way to know
when the automatic compensation is in effect.
Yellowstone -- RV for camp & transportation?

Don't just "drive through" the Tetons, plan on spending
several days there as well. Lots of photographic
spots within 50' of the RV (Snake River overlook
along the main highway, several places on the
interior road, Jenny Lake, Signal Mountain, Oxbow
Bend, Willow Flats, etc.). Lots of wildlife to see
as well, especially at Oxbow Bend, Willow Flats, Jackson
Lake lodge (you don't have to stay there to walk through
the lodge to the overlook out back). There are also
great views from the Gros Ventre mountains across
Jackson Hole. Plan on using a 100mm or longer for
great scenic shots from there. You can spend several
days there and not see it all.
Most NPS campgrounds don't have hookups, but do
have a dump station. Colter Bay has a commercial
campground in addition to the NPS campground - a great
place to stay. Signal mountain NPS campground is
centrally located in the Grand Tetons. And I second
the motion on getting reservations... it'll save you
and the wife a lot of worry.
In Yellowstone, NPS campgrounds are at Grant Village
and Fishing Bridge. Commercial campgrounds with
hookups can be found at the edge of the park in
West Yellowstone and Gardiner Mt. Plan on plenty
of driving time between stops, speed limits are 45 and
winding mountain roads take extra time, especially in an
RV.
Only other suggestion is take me with you...
Enjoy your trip!
