Did some one say "nude puppy dog pictures". I thought this was a family site!

I would like to say a big thank you to all that took the time to contribute to this thread.I must state that I do not have a problem with nudes, male or female. My concern was the overall unartistic male shots. I do not have an example to show. The ease of digital imaging will bring more of this lowering of talent for posing a model, setting the lighting etc..
I suppose its a little bit like the quality of television programs. We see the standards dropping bit by bit and only notice the changes when with take the time to compare.
I will spend more time with Em ( my daughter )on PN, as she prefers to go through the Top Photos.
This was a sensible discussion by adults. I applaud every one of you. If only we could put the world to rights in the same way. It could mean an end to war, starvation and poverty.
Soapbox away now and camera out..
Many thanks.

Is it just me? We seem to be displaying an increase in nude Males.I
find no problems with female. We do not get close shots of females,
but one or two members seem to be going for shock value with males. If
its art, no problem but some seem to be treading a fine line.
My concern is that my 8 year old daughter ( a budding photographer )
often browses through the site looking at wildlife and bird
photographs. She commented that she had seen a lot of ****** last
night.
In our household nudity is not a taboo but when its thrust in your
face ( so to speak ) I believe it could become one.

Having read through 90% of this forum I though I ought to a least post a comment of some kind.
I have at various times visied BartekB's gallery. I believe that comments are the only safe way to rate ones own images.Anyone can click a button and post a 7/7 or a 1/1.Taking time to post a reason why you like or dislike an image is the only true way for the photographer to grow his talent.
I wish I was getting views, never mind views ratings and comments.I'll post my " marked as interesting " list.

If I see shots that I wish were mine I save them to a USB drive of inspirational photographs.I save the shot with the photographers name, so that I can revisit the gallery. Every month I add the inspirational shots to a thumbnail website gallery on the drive.
Sometimes I will take the drive round to a mates house and we will go through them.
I remove photographers from my interesting list at the beginning of the year. One of my first marked as interesting was John Peri. Whilst he mainly shoots nudes ( the lucky sod ) the work is on the whole outstanding. Fili whilst a far better photogher that I will ever be has ceasest producing work that inspires me. Jennifer Catron's work has also gone in a direction that does little for me.The diverse work of Alec Ee continues to twitch the right nerves.
Posting a rating because you may end up with a reciprical rate is a waste of time, talent and effort. Nobody wins.
I was considering posting this rather large comment in another forum but could not decide which. Some of them have not had postinf for years.
Thanks for reading Steve Nicholson

This subject seems very deep. You guys need to loosen up a little.
Consider this; why did you stop to take the photograph?
Was it because the subject matter means something to you? Example, a daughter wife pet house car etc.
was it because the subject triggered an emotion? Example, our honeymoon holiday or wow great view etc.
Or was it simply a case of "this will get a good rating".
Please don't shoot me down for this, but I see photo's across the net on various sites that I ( a beginner ) would not even admit to taking. Yet these same images are rated very highly by my peers.
I guess it comes down to the human factor. How many of us have friends that other people cannot even stand the sight of?

Try looking around on Google for Digiscoping.
Some of the bird watching sites have very good tutorials.
Basically you shoot through a telescope. Result vary but can be spectacular.

Yes. I have my third compact digital. The Canon Powershot S1 shoots video at 30 fps, good enough for TV playback. The ability to catch my children at play, when the least expect it is marvellous.

How about I stick my pennys worth in.
Rating picture is a little like choosing a wife.If your into Blondes then so be it.You tend to go on the prowl with blonds on the mind but sometimes a redhead bowls you over.
Rating pictures is a little like that.If your into the arty farty shots, a landscape will probably not stir any feelings.Myself, I admit I am a novice, if I like it, I like it.Don't matter to me whether it's nude, portrait, landscape or whatever.
Nuff said............Penny well spent.
Has anyone else been hit like this?
