"The guy from Paris" did not in fact receive a M8. It was a prank on his part as were his "M8"
images.

"Surely you're not suggesting that there are similarities between a "Panaleica" and an M8
which would lead a user of one to like the other"
James, I am. Both are digital. The digital workflow is entirely different from the darkroom and
this will give Michael the chance to see if he likes it. As I stated in my original post, "Every
type (film/digital) of camera has its own personality."

Ellis, As the guidelines clearly suggested I had my image set to 510 pixels wide. However I
did not reduce the quality to 72 dpi. Thank you for your courteous assistance.

Michael,
Every type (film/digital) of camera has its own personality. I use a Leica MP and look forward
to working with the M8. I have been recently been working with a "PanaLeica" and with it have
created images that I would not have been able to do so with the MP. My recommendation
would be to work with the PanaLeica and, if you like it, acquire a M8. You will probably end

Your wedding photo can be saved with a little work in Photoshop. Here is what I was able to
quickly accomplish with your 72 dpi jpeg

I have the 5400 and after using it for several months I tried the VueScan software with it. I
was quite amazed at the difference. The scans were greatly speeded up (less than a minute
or two per negative) and there was less noise in the shadows.
VueScan took a little bit of work to get used to but now I never use the Minolta software.
I bought mine from Vistek in Toronto.....they might have some in stock.

I am an artist (a painter) & have been one for more than 30 years. During that time I have
seen many aspiring artists die off (literally), implode through drug, alcohol or sex abuse or
just plain give up & do something else due to lack of persistence, or from poverty or lack
of something meaningful to say.
I am 57 years old now what I find I have in common with other successful artists of my age
is that we all have some unique perspective that we wish to communicate, have taken time
to perfect our craft and we all have the ability to work alone for extended periods to
produce a large body of work that can be susequently exhibited in a gallery.
Common to all successful artists I know is an underlying respect for each other's efforts.
We don't always like what another person does but the adolescent trash talk that goes on
in this forum is nowhere apparent. We are simply to assured about our own work and too
busy to waste precious time & energy on such talk. Ars longa vita breva!
For those of you in the Toronto area, I have a one-man show of my paintings that opens at
the Nicholas Metivier Gallery on March 5th & runs until March 26th.

Wow, great thread. It seems that Ollie has opened a flood gate of great images.
Dennis, Family Hairline is a fabulous understated image. definitely a keeper.
Svante, that is a wonderful image of Zenith. He looks like he was an intelligent dog and I
know how much you shall miss him.
Keep them coming.

Beau*, I quite liked your photo of the three people on the beach. Can you tell us what
camera and what lens was used? Thanks.

This is the first image ever taken of Earth from the surface of a planet beyond the Moon.

Reichman M8 Review (Take 2)
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
The first half of this thread, with all of its bitchy, snide comments makes me realize why I
spend so little time on this forum anymore. I notice that it wasn't until Michael Reichmann
actually stepped into the conversation that the tone actually started to become somewhat
civil.
You guys remind me of those losers one sees in bars, huddled over their drinks and
complaining about everything in the world.
I'd like to publicly thank Michael Reichmann and Sean Reid for their contributions to the
photographic community. I personally have learned a lot from their sites.
