  1. I Use LR & PS and I am not trying to start another topic but if it does the job well and it works for you than that is the best standard. Sorry Meg reul, but more choice is very healthy for us. If adobe doesn't have an upgrade each week and you have to have it and pay too much for it more people will not be looking you from what you call industry standard.
  2. Lots of good advice here, help is a must. swap chips and as marc said : The way I'd do it (and have done it) is to set up in one area and bring the people there (that's where the help comes in handy). That way you set up on a tripod, nail the exposure and leave it .
  3. The groom and the best man is a must.

The bride and the maid of honor is a must.

maid of honor alone, not sure there that it is a must i was never asked or i ever did this shot.

bride and groomsmen and vice versa but yes as a but each groomsmen with bride and vice versa, same answer as bride alone.

it is always adivisble to ask what is a must photo that they would like.

  4. I am not the best PC pro here but this what I would do. I have lightroom running on AMD dual processor FX 64 5400. It runs fine the upload a bit slower than importing the files from the card to the PC.

    1. I would run msconfig, go to startup and uncheck all unnecessary programs that running in the backgrounds.

    2. Click on services tap and check hide Microsoft services. And uncheck all unnecessary programs that running in the backgrounds. I normally uncheck everything here but be sure to click hide Microsoft services first.

    3. Clean all your internet file

    4. Defrag your drive.

I usually disable my Internet connection, firewall, and antivirus when I am working. Some might say it is not necessary but it works fro me and I see the difference..

  5. Spam, but here is my take on this: what one would expect the answer is on a photography form if this questions was Raised on a videographers forum the answer would have been different. The truth in the Matter is both has pro and cons and it is a matter of taste and importance to each individual.

A nice photo of someone above the fireplace or in album is what they want, need and what is important for other it could the sound and visual of that day to be able to play and see it again and again

  6. If I were looking for a photograher and was tring to deciede between two that I really liked I would rather chose a Christian. They would know more about my values and that they are more likely to be honest and trustworth.

I would have to agree with Lesley on this one: most people are looking for an intelligent photographer who expresses herself/himself well.

There are lots dishonest people in all religons period. Most dishonest people I have ever known hide behind a religon and they present themselves as being holy. Do whatever makes you happy but I would have to agree with a lots of what have been said here.Good luck

  7. Hi Paul, I have seen worset, But I have to say that I am 100% with Nadine. I do both video and photography I always plot out where I am going to be with the video guys and make sure we are not in each other way. the same goes when i am doing video I plan my camera way out of teh photograhers way and it sad that I get some photograhers who ruin my shots sometimes. It gets tough sometime.<div>00Kyf2-36293084.jpg.f348b17a6f7dd7ad52df7ac0c1199c31.jpg</div>
  8. It crazy that this is for Debate, You have two choices.

.1 Give them everything fro free and feel good about it what you have done, and they will appreciated it and tell many other how kind person you are.

    2. gibe them nothing or trying to make a deal and if they choose not to take them, you will toss gain nothing but get a rap for the unkind mioney hungry photograher.

Larry, what goes around comes around.neither money or fame can show the great soul someone could have only kindness can do that.

  9. I agree with Nadine , that what I do if they ask. there might be a photos or two that means a lot for the bride. I permantly delete the bad ones I honsetly do not think that couple photos that will do much damage to you as a pro.

Show her, Explain the reasons why you will not give them up and if she finds something that she really likes, well you decide how many you can give up and which ones.

  10. I tried couple printers Epson and canon with built in memory cards and i found them to be slow and I did not like that way. I have done 3 jobs with on teh spoit 4x6 using a laptop hooked to epson printer. I normally shoot the photos and my assistant prints the photos.
  11. It is a good thread, I have been gone for a while and I know I missed a lot in the past 2 months. I do agree with Marc on this 100% on his below statement. I have been using the Patch tool since it was introduced for the stuff Kari stated above, I have had clients who brought pictures from Wedding they have asked to touch up the neck, the eyes etc.. Before blowing up. It is great tip whether you use it or not it is great knowledge to add and I always thanks who are there to share their wealth. Good job Kari and Marc and thank you both

Just to be clear, I would like to do zero PS work after the shoot. Bogdan's caution is one to consider. However, to jump in like everyone who does PS work will lose control and retouch every shot to a fare-the-well is a bit over the top. Then no subject concerning wedding specific retouching can be broached without all the philosophizing and evangelizing.

Frankly, I've yet to meet a woman who wouldn't want to look her best. It's not the subject's fault I was using an on camera potato masher at that angle, it's my fault ... lit right her neck wouldn't look like that. So I can toss the shot (which I eventually did 'cause it isn't my style), or fix it ... which I did here because I thought it was a good demonstration of the technique.
