This bird was sitting on a nest right next to the roadway, on an
auto-loop (for birders) running through a wildlife area. When I
stopped to photograph her on the nest, she jumped up briefly, I shot
the picture, then moved on. I don't often encounter a bird so close
that it fills the frame when shooting with a 300mm lens!

It's amazing how much depth the larger format camera gives you compared to 35mm....nicely done!

This photo puts Sentinal Rock in a "whole new light" ;-) Absolutely stunning, Hugh!

Denis and Shawn...Thanks for your comments! I was there to photograph my sons' high school marching band, but I just couldn't resist these colorful young ladies and their big smiles.

Hi Wade....I can relate. I grew up hunting ducks and pheasants with my dad...now I have traded in the shotgun for binoculars and camera! Thanks for your comments...

I really love this photo! I would be tempted to go in and make the pupils completely black...just to see how it looks. The cat looks dark gray to me...is it indeed black?

Nice photo, with lots of detail...I would say even more detail than one might see of the bird were it in your hand. The bird's attitude shows off the great personality these little birds possess! It would be nice to know what you went through to get this shot.

Mark,
I am not usually drawn to pictures of 20th century buildings, but the angles and the lighting on this photo I find quite appealing! Nicely done...

I like it....it's not the usual heron stance that you see (of a heron fishing).

My first thought was....how did he get that shot from a moving boat? You managed to capture the sharpness of the whale itself, while giving your viewers the feeling of movement with all of the splashing water...well done, Bill!
