Hey Ken,
It is great to see that gray coastline and our good friend mister "gorst" the lovely yellow in the bottom of the frame.
This image does a wonderful job of capturing a typical day on the SW coast.

Did the filtering affect of the sunlight work for a point and shoot
digital... pretty inexperienced with a digital. Thanks for any
comments or ratings.

For those that are wondering... she appears to be fire dancing.. or more likely practicing being that it is broad day light in Pioneer Square.. but you never know in Portland. Great Shot.

So they tore the place down???!!! Did you finally get into Family Housing? You have always been a great lookin' guy.. for your age.. hahaha. Keep knockin' dead and taking names later.

I agree with the cropping suggestion... considered it myself, but I had difficulty with losing the upper boundary of the ice. I will see how it looks.

Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Any suggestions to improve this image post processing, or future
suggestions for ice photography would be greatly appreciated.

Is their enough information in the darker areas to be effective?

Approxiamtely 500ft... it was relatively shallow. You could put your hand about 5cm down and not be able to see it. The water is geothermally heated. Iceland is an extremely volcanically active area and this caldera was more than likely produced by groundwater/ or glacial ice mixing with a shallow magma chamber. The color is produced by silica "mud" suspended in the water. The acid taste is from dilue sulfuric acid. Hope that helps!

Image seems very flat, un-saturated, and out of focus...

You have photographed a feeling that I am sure we have all felt at one time or another. Your images from Iceland are amazing. My trip there a few years ago prompted me to use photo.net, and after happening upon your portfolio today, I must say I am a little embarassed now. On my trip I was limited to 100 ISO film... which did not do well with the constant fog and overcast conditions that I had for the 2 weeks that I was there. I would like to invite you to critique some of my images... though they pale in comparison to yours... suggestions regarding post processing of images would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I did not have a lifetime to shoot in such a wonderful location.. the trip turned into photographing for documentation purposes with little liberty for artistic expression... I am now thwarted with the task of extracting memories out of mediocar images. Thank you for your time, and sorry for the rambling. Your work is inspiring.

I have nearly an identical photograph...
From a few years ago... come check out some other shots from around iceland which you may or may not have. Good work.

Great shot of Crater Lake and Wizard Island... I have seen (and taken) this same shot a million times, being from Oregon, and you captured it well. I enjoy your photos... keep up the good work.

I did not see the original version... but now they look like siamese twins... was that the intention?

The bottom left corner is rather distracting in my opinion, but overall wonderfull color and resolution

very crisp image... and color contrast works well for an advertisement.

Hello Florian,
The reason why I find this image so wonderful is that it holds a particular realism for me. The color and mood I have felt a thousand times. It also reminds me of travelling... and seeing that one girl that you will never see again, but your worlds were thrown together for a brief time. I really enjoy all of your photos, they are not as trimmed and prepped as most photos (including my first uploads) as most on photo net. Your work is not intended to be calendar or magazine material... it is just youth and simple emotion.

or swan?

The most photographed of all of the cascades... and for a good reason, nice work.

wonderful contrast

Don't worry Sam... in eclectic parts of the US it has the same meaning.

Is this a homemade camera...

Nice shot from Krafla Caldera... I know that lighting can be difficult in Iceland, you were in the right place at the right time.
