No, I don't think you should, unless you really want to get a specific lens. You look like you cover most focal lengths, and with primes, it means that you have a light set of lenses that you would carry around. The 70-200 is about 3 pounds, and do you imagine you would carry it everywhere all the time? You will never regret having a nice set of primes that is much more portable than zooms.

Hi there. I will be purchasing the Canon 1D. That's the easy part,
can't wait to let her rip when I get it, but the hard part, trying to
get a complete system for my money. I will have a budget of about
$2000-2500 USD. With this amount, if it is possible, I would like to
get a complete system that would cover a focal range of about 15-
200. I would like to stick with canon, but I will not hesitate to
get sigmas. I am considering these two systems,
17-40L + 85 f1.8 + 135L with 1.4x + 500D
Or
24-70L + 70-200f/2.8L + 500D
I do not mind having a prime set of lenses, but zooms makes things
very easy. Question is, would this system be ideal for what I would
like to do, (in order of priority) street, sports(mainly hockey),
macro, landscape.
Hope to hear from you all!!

Thanks for all your suggestions, but in the end, I'm going to start out with all primes.
35 f/2 + 85 f/1.8 + 135L
Again thanks, but I think learning with primes instead of zooms will make a world of difference for me. Wish you all the best!
