I am using N65, I read through many of the links on exposure
metering and compensation. And I understood that I should go for an
over exposure for bright scenes and under exposure for dark scenes.
But, my N65 automatically shows about +1 to +1.5 exposure reading
while shooting snow (F4.4, 90). Do I have to go for a further
compensation.

Wow........ ppl (non-Indian)know a lot more than I thought.
I would suggest you to visit the Jal Mahal Palace, near Jaipur, its a palace surrounded by water from all sides, and you need to take a boat to go into.
BTW, its "bus" for enough....... "baas" is a foul smell. :-)
Have a good trip in India.

Cathy,
Sorry to hear your experiences in India. Please try to visit Binsar, RaniKhet area in North of Utter Pradesh, and Kalimpong, Darjiling, and Gangtok in the north-eastern part. You may also consider to visit Jaisalmair and Mounth Aabu at the western side. There's a place called Dwarika in Gajarat. I believe you would find lots of interesting subjects to shoot, without much hassle.
Please write me back, if you need more information.

I have been reading the previous posts on exposure control and
compensation. This is what I understand... first I put my camera in
aperture priority mode and decide the depth of field, then take the
meter reading, then based on that I either choose the exposure
compensation or go in manual mode and reduce the shutter speed by
half for 1 step over exposure or double it for -1EV.
Comments??

Thank you all for your response.
Thanks very much Dave for your suggestions, though I don't force my camera, I would be more careful.

I am using N65 body and just bought Nikon 17-35 lens. The manual
says that the inbult flash can not be used at any focal length.
Can I use the inbulit flash when the subject is quite close (1-2
feet)?
While using SB50 for indoors, would the inbuilt flash help to fill
the scene. I usually set my SB50 at 14 mm with diffuser.
How do I prevent the "tilted verticals" problem while shooting
buldings?

I have N65, when I try using red eye reduction function with Nikon
28-200 lens, shutter takes a li'l longer time to release, when I
fully depress the shutter release button.
Is it normal?

I am thinking to buy a Nikon 17-35, imported version from B&H to
save some bucks.
Does it matter, if I spend about $100 and buy Nikon 5 year warranty?
Pros, cons?

Does using heavy lenses like Nikon 17-35 on lighter bodies like N65
or N80 increase the chances of damaging the lens mount (due to the
weight of the lens)?

I guess, N80 would rather be a better choice. If you think that you are a photo enthusiast, no matter what you would buy a better body eventually.
Since, I am using N65, I think it a pretty good camera and it does have depth of field preview.
