I've heard the best bet is 16-35mm, but if i had to go with a wide prime the 24 1.4 seems the
best.
-
Does live view have a working histogram?
-
I don't think its they don't care, but i bet they are loving it that canon is keeping the dslr race
static, by not evolving everything to full frame.
-
thank you luca photo, that flikr poll will probably do just fine.
-
I want to know this stat because i am writing a paper on how i believe canon markets with the
intention to frustrate non full frame users into purchasing more products. I was just
wondering if anyone has seen this stat anywhere, but i guess not.

Does any know where I can find the ratio of 5d users, to 1.6 crop or 1.3 crop users?
-
i wouldnt get many zooms because of weight. I would get the 16-35, the 14mm, 50mm
135mm, consider 24mm 1.4.

I am in the market to finally buy a telephoto lens. I have always seen myself maybe getting one of the
70-200's, but I like primes for their max aperture, size, weight, and how descreet they are. I have recently
read a lot about the renowned 135mmL. My question is for anyone who owns this lens, and whether they
find this to be a better buy than the 70-200 2.8? Anything is useful thanks. Tim.

I have the sigma 18-50 2.8 It offers a low aperture and good range. I am a student too and
right now I have that and the sigma 10-20. They get the job done for an affordable price. I
also have the canon 50 1.4 and am looking for more canon usm primes, caus they are more
affordable, sharp, and have the largest apertures. But to sum it up my sigma 18-50 and
10-20 give me my all around stuff. and for quality i look towards the usm primes.

I am making a trip to San Francisco tomorrow. I want to bring my camera, and take a few picture with a
couple of lenses. I am not looking to buy tomorrow, but I would like to try on some of the 70-200's, and a
handful of primes. Could anyone from SF let me know which store is the best bet. Thanks Tim.

I asked this same question for about a year. I ended up buying the sigma 18-50 2.8. Besides
low light, 2.8 is also important for exaggerated depth of field, which I found to be very
crucial. The 17-85 has a maximum aperture of 4-5.6. For the price and the quality I felt I
made the right choice. I satisfy the "canon quality" buy buying a few primes. But I still think
the 17-40 is a good lens and if you have the money the 16-35. Check out some comparison
reviews.

I just bought the same lens from sigma4less.com for 399. I just got it yesterday. This is the
second lens I have bought from them. Both have been great copies. That will save you 100
from bhs price.

Hi I am planning on going to Europe for 20 days and I plan on taking as many pictures as I
can. I will be bringing my 20d and my 1gb card and my 512 card and will be shooting in RAW
98% of the time. I will be backpacking and will be staying in hostiles, so I think I will have
access to outlets almost every night. I think I want to get an Ipod to store my photos, but I
hear the 20d compatabilty is poor, and 1gb of photos, can take an hour and a full battery.
Does anyone have experience with an Ipod or any other kind of photo storage. Anything else
I need to bring for photos. Thanks, Tim.

I back the kit lens to start. It lasted me about 1 year. I got my bearings and figured out what I
was missing in a lens. I also back spending 80$ more and getting the 50mm prime 1.8.

I just spent a long time trying to make this decision, I had done a lot of research and was
convinced to get the 17-85, but I realized that 4.0 was too slow for my needs, so i
decidede to go with the sigma 18-50mm 2.8. The reviews tell me that is a very sharp lens
at 2.8. It is light and compact, and seems like it will fit me perfectly. But you might value
the 85mm range more for soccer.
this review
helped me
I can't find the other one that helped, but if you do your research, you will see that the
17-85 is extremly soft and distorted at its wide end. and is not that sharp. but might be
the lens for you.

I don't know about the tokina but the Sigma is alright. It has its faults though, I can say
that it is almost impossible to get a good picture in low light, the pictures are dark and not
sharp, Although Ive never used an external flash. I dont think it would be the best wedding
or sports lens. I use the 10mm in the day, and I have got some great landscape pics, If you
shoot raw you will spend some time in ps, but you will get some good shots. You can
check my portfolio, everything wide is with the sigma.
-
Oh, also I am touring all over, Big cities and small cities, there is not one specific place.
-
I like to shoot lowlight and wide, landscape and architecture. I will also be bringing my
50 1.4. Right now I do not have a walk around lens or anything longer. Longer I don't
mind. 85mm is fine for me. I have a 20d.

I will be going to Italy this summer for 20 days, and I need to decide which lens to bring. I
think I will bring my sigma 10-20 for wide. I would like the range of the 17-85 and IS. But
the distortion at 17mm is making think I should sacrafice the IS and get the 17-40L. Does
any one have any advice on these lenses?

I brought my camera and 1.4 to the beach and thought I was careful,
but some sand got into my lens. The autofocus and manual focus only
works near infinity. The focus ring turns but the lens does not
extend to focus close up. Is there anything I can do at this point.
Does anyone know how much this will cost me to send into canon, or
can a shop take care of this? Where do the screws on the side lead?
Thanks for any help. Tim.

Is there any way to clean a lens cloth, if you think it has too much dirt in it, from maybe
carrying it in my bag for too long.
-
Raw is great to change the color temp. If you dont like to shoot raw, you can play with the
white balance in the camera, or photoshop image> adjustments> variations can get rid of
color cast.

photoshop layers is the best way to make multiple exposure images with dslrs. But get
creative. Multiple flashs work, also long exposure shots with different lighting.
Great all-around lens mostly for snowboarding
