furry VW? I got to see a picture of that...
-
Posted one of the pictures here. It's a 100% crop. I used my 70-200, so not quite as much magnification as yours, but I think the arc welding shield worked out ok.
-
got the welding shield and it looks like it will work ok. (seems very uniform in density, etc) It's a deep green so some color adjustment might be necessary. I'll give it a try this evening when I head home.

mammatus clouds... that's what I forgot. I believe those are mammatus clouds. I keep coming back... great shot to look at!

I am a huge fan!!
nice fans... I was thinking I was more of a 16" box fan.... but those,,, those that you found Ken are really huge. I was exploring a while ago with my wife and we came across this huge fan and candle. I'll attach a picture. On another note, I think I'll order some of the #10 or #11 arc welding shields and see how it works.... I probably won't look through my viewfinder just in case.
-
very cool and the $36 isn't that bad actually. I'll check into it. You always have interesting ways of capturing various shots. I'm a huge fan.

Michael, Very hot shot. so I was thinking of getting these arc welding filters to throw in front of a lens to take some shots as a poor man's version of what you've got. Will these work or should I just stay out of the sun? Have you experimented with filters like those?

love those clouds. I forget what kind they are, but they are sweet.
-
It is very "by the book" but I still like it best.
-
This one is my favorite out of the four you have in the folder. It's not as dynamic as some of the others, but her eyes are perfect with just a little catch-light in them.
-
Fantastic DOF.... great lighting too. That bubble color looks just plain gross.
Great shot!
-
Excellent shot. Love the whole thing. The ever-so-slight angle makes it all the more perfect!
-
I too like the one sans hammer and with the darker fan in the background... It's very nice. On that note...I always wonder why the french call bread pain (or why we call it bread for that matter). It's kind of odd as an american to walk around france and see all these stores with big signs outside them advertising "pain"

actually Borah is in Idaho (tallest mountain in Idaho) It's a nice hike with some beautiful fallen trees on the way. I hope to get back there one of these days... maybe next year :)
-
Those are some sweet shorts! Metal tripod on top of a 3 story building?? Sounds quite safe! Reminds me of a time I was hiking down Mt. Borah with a 5 iron and a storm came in. I quickly got rid of it once my hair started standing on end. The risk you took was well worth it though. All these lightning shots are fantastic. I love the blue/purple colors.

Wow! Again! .....
-
impressive!!
-
Thanks for the technical details! I'll have to give it a try. I spent a summer in Mesa, AZ... hot hot hot! I'm thinking that Dallas will be similar... but with a bit more humidity.
-
awwwe yeah... that's where I'll be this summer. I'd be very lucky to catch one like this. Great shot Ken!
-
Fantastic (as usual)!!! The curvy stick makes the shot especially interesting... that and the spectacular sharpness and color.
-
Whew... yep, plumbing will be interesting... At least I'll get to hang out in Home Depots a lot. Sometimes I feel like I could put my paycheck on direct deposit to Home Depot. I'll be in Dallas, Irving to be exact. I'll hopefully make some trips out to Idaho as well (my wife and kids are going to be there for the summer). So where do you teach Ken?
-
Great color and smoothness. I'll bet this one looks great as an 11X14!
-
Business - General management.. It's been wonderful. I love my classes and my classmates are wonderful. I'm coming to Texas this summer to do an internship at a plumbing supply company. Should be pretty fun!

Yep, I've got two day jobs... one is the chicken thing, the other is being a student right now (I'm getting my MBA! so that hopefully I can dress up in my chicken suit only when I want to :)..
