  1. These have all been very helpful. Thanks. I agree that brackets are "to each his own". FYI, I have the 10D with battery grip and a 550EX. I will probably have my local store order a few brackets for me to try....particularly the Custom Bracket and RRS. Yeah, $300 for a piece of metal loop...I'm in the wrong business.....
  2. I have not found a comprehensive review and critique of flash

brackets yet. I'm sure there are but I probably just haven't looked

hard enough. I am deciding between a Custom Bracket QRS-35PJ

(Photojournlism Model) and the www.reallyrightstuff.com "Perfect for

Portraits" brackets. I really like the reallyrightstuff brackets

because they are so compact and great for weddings but they are about

$500. The Custom Bracket PJ model isn't too bad either but a little

bulkier. Are there any other ones you guys can recommend that are

small and compact like these models? Thanks so much.

  3. I am a Canon shooter, but I would recommend you go with one of Nikon's professional lenses that are comprable to the Canon L series lenses. The sharpness and contrast you get from these lenses is what will set you apart as a professional photographer and obtain great images on which your reputation will ride on. I don't know the specifics of these lenses you mentioned but you always get what you pay for....
  4. I photographed an engagement session today using a Canon 10D and

SanDisk 512MB CF card which I've owned for quite sometime without any

problems. Everything appeared fine until I got home and discovered

that card was EMPTY!! I still can't figure what went wrong. There was

no hint of any problems during the shoot. Has anyone ever experienced

    this problem?

  5. Can anyone recommend a good place for lens rental, specifically Canon

L series lenses? There is nothing near me but I figure there are

places that will ship them to you.

I am looking to get the 24-70L but would like to check it out first.

Secondly, can anyone recommend a cheaper site to buy Canon lenses and

    equipment besides B&H or Adorama?

    Thanks so much.

  6. I have this lens. All I have to say is you get what you pay for. Not a bad lens but certainly not a good one either. I like it for travel because I don't want to carry other ones. However, the color is poor and telephoto end is not sharp. I agree with the previous post about slow focusing at the 300mm end and in low light conditions. If I could afford a Canon lens, I would certainly take it over this one, but given a budget, I suppose this will have to do.
