Horses for races. If I were to visit Burma again (I reside in Bangladesh) and wanted to travel light I would take my Fuji X100 with its add-on 28 mm, my Panasonic GF1 with the pancake 20/1.8, the 45/1.9 and, perhaps, the Rokkor 90/4 with its adapter. That covers 28, 40, 90 and 180. All of this weights nothing.
Another alternative would be two bodies Olympus OMD-EM5 with the 12-25/2.8 and the 35-100/2.5 (covers 24-200 mm). The cameras and the lenses are very light. Again, I can carry this all day for several days without neck strain or else :-) I am 67.
Enjoy your trip.

Alex. Can you elaborate on "my M8's unique virtual 1/2 frame perspective"? Thanks

Olympus EM5 and 12-35 and 35-100. Light.

I am using my 180/3.4, 50/1.4 and 90/2.8 with an adapter (not Leitax) on my D800 and I like the results. I shot on Aperture priority and the green light in the viewfinder tells me when it is in focus . Voilà.

What about the Rokkor 28mm (besides the issue of the white spots)?

-

I am confused. Kryn mentioned the X100 and everyone is talking about the XPro1.

James: talking about cats, did you have a specific photographer in mind? :-)

Thanks to all for your useful suggestions. Canon then...

Alex: which model of Canon would you recommend? I have been a Nikon guy since 1972. Thanks.

I use a D 700 and my D2X is for my 70-200 and 300 mm with happy results. They are complementary.

As you know the DMR module is hard to find and rather expensive. I was rather happy to find
on eBay.fr under DMR an offer for an R9, a DMR and a 30-70 zoom for 2600 euro. Recently
a R9 and a DMR go for 3600 euro in Vienna or in Paris. Too good to be true? I contacted
the vendor. He would not take Paypal and offered to wire a "packer" who would hold the money
until I receive the goodies and accept them. The problem is that the packer has no public
record and that I would have no control. Also the vendor did not seem too fluent with the
equipment. Smelling a rat I decided not to pursue. Too bad. May be I will go for Leitax since I
have 6 R lenses.

Thanks, David

I wish they would consider a R-mount too :-)

David S: how to use Contax lenses on 4/3? Thanks

It seems you have the EL (electronic) version. Have the circuitry checked as well.... But otherwise an excellent purchase.

Thanks for the answers. I was told the marking through the kits wears off. I realize it has to do with how frequently you change your lenses but has anyone had an experience of more than a year or two?

Is there anyone doing it for non-coded Leica M lenses? How long does it take? Thanks

Fred: where do you find these adapters for G lenses?

It is possible to use Leica R lenses on digital Nikon, through Leitax or else. I would like to hear from experienced users what has been their experience? Why did they do it (they already had the lenses, because of the bokeh, because of the outstanding sharpness, because AF was not that important to them etc..)? Was it worth it? Comparing equivalent focal length and aperture have the R lenses proven superior? etc.
I have many R lenses: 24, 21-35, 35-70, 50/1.4, 90/2, 180/3.4, 70-200 and the outstanding 280/4. I have a D700 and a D2X with 24-70/2.8, 20-35/2, 50/1.4, 70-200/2.8, 35/1.4 manual, 85/1.4 manual and the 300/4 AFS.
Despite its promises Leica has not delivered a digital solution to R lenses owners. I cannot find a DMR at a reasonable price. I am considering adapting several R lenses. But I am seeking advices. Is it worth it? Thanks in advance for your answers

There seems to be an acute shortage. La maison du Leica in Paris, Leica Photoshop in Vienna, etc.. are out of stock. Any news from Solms on its capacity to deliver?

Thanks for the detailed answers. A Hologon... great suggestion, Michael

I have the 2 bodies in excellent shape and the 21, 28, 45 and 90 also in top condition. I am not using them much these days. I considered having the lenses adapted to Leica M mount but it will cost 3800 USD. Selling them might be a better option since I have already a good number of Leica and Rokkor M mount lenses. What would be a fair selling price for the 2 bodies and the four lenses? I have tried to do my homework but cannot find the right answers. Is there still a market?
Thanks for any reply.

Dear Winfried
The transaction would be direct and face to face. The equipment is in town and available for inspection. Thanks for the comments
