Update > finally , the system is back to normal . Use the above trick in case the need arises once again .
-
Thank you and I convey my thanks to the photo.net management and the tech team . I hope this does not break down once again .
-
Members who are getting 403 error , can access this site through VPN . One can get enable VPN in the settings of Opera browser , chrome users would have to install extensions with similar action. Hope this information reaches all who are down with 403 influenza virus :)
Strange that photo.net remained silent on this issue . Not sure about the feeling of browsing a site through backdoor . Do not know how this error cropped up with the new version of photo.net.

Dear and respectable Admin, is this a statistically insignificant and silly problem? Please put the information somewhere with a 403 heading and I would not disturb. As a member, I expected some reply.
-
Few days back I had raised this issue in the help forum. The problem has re-emerged from yesterday night. Has the system become so brittle? Please help to eradicate 403.

403 is back again !! Hazzuh, huzzah reversed !
-
The space in the front page is occupied by more words and less photos . Being a photographic site , more space should be allotted for POW , POD ( these two are already there ) , some photos from critique forum and trending photos .
Are photographs being viewed by less number of people in the new version ?
I have not been able to read all posts related with newer version , so do not know if they have been mentioned by any member . Sorry , if this is repeat .

There is light at last . Thanks .

I have never experienced this in photo.net. It's getting closer to a week and still I am being greeted with 403. Awkward and embarrassing. I can just log in (but can't browse photo.net) with a particular brand of Android phone and and not on any other android platform.

Hello Admin,
I can not log in from my computer, the error code is 403. I tried changing the browser but that didn't help. I did send a mail to contact @.., but got no reply from the Admin. This is continuing for the last four days. I am putting up this message after trying several times through my android phone. So, it would be helpful if the copies of the replies are mailed to my email address.. tuhin_da@yahoo.co.in
Regards.

<p>Greetings to all ,</p>
<p>Interesting thread , there are two things 1) advancement of technology which I doubt would ever fall off and 2) requirement of the pro and non-pro photographers .</p>
<p>Would the technological requirement of a wildlife photographer change 10 years ahead ? How much of more fps and better low light performance ?</p>
<p>On the other hand , I would love to get pro quality lenses at a much cheaper price . May be the scientists find some cheaper and better alternative to glass lenses .</p>

<p>This is what Alamy wants - </p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Good enough quality for all our customers’ needs<br /></strong>There are a number of technical reasons why images might not pass our QC checks. If you’re uploading for the first time, take a look at our QC failure reasons PDF to avoid any issues.</li>
<li><strong>Photos from a camera that has a minimum of 6 megapixels<br /></strong>Cameras with less than this won’t be able to produce a good enough quality for us to sell</li>
<li><strong>JPEGS</strong><br />Shoot or illustrate in whatever format you like, but you’ll need to submit your images to us as JPEGs.</li>
<li><strong>JPEG file size of over 17MB (when uncompressed)</strong><br />This is likely to have a compressed JPEG size of 3-5MB. Opening a JPEG in an image program such as Adobe Photoshop will show you the uncompressed (open) file size.</li>
</ol>
<p>So , submit in JPEG and not in Tiff . </p>
-
<p>Thanks all,</p>
<p>I will check Raw to Tiff conversion.</p>
<p>What would you all consider as reputable stock agencies ?</p>
-
<p>Persons other than the photoshop gurus are handling the data :) . Even a 14 bit RAW file from D700 is not much . <strong>So its still not clear how a 50 mb is generated</strong> .</p>
<p>And ,</p>
<p><em>if 50 mb is the file size criterion for the reputable stock agencies</em> , <strong>how acceptable would be the images from D70 today or 10 years from now</strong> ?</p>
<p>Thanks .</p>
-
<p>Thanks David ,</p>
<p>I was talking about 500 px and here is what I got -</p>
<p>"For Print Ready or Products for Resale usage we require a high resolution file with a minimum of <br />3000px on the longest edge"</p>
<p>And from your post -</p>
<p>"submissions have to be. 50MB is common. Typically they will expect that level to be reached without interpolation. "<br>
<br>
A particular RAW file of D70 when saved as JPEG produces a 3.21 mb file , on the other hand a RAW file of D5300 produces roughly a 17 mb file when saved as JPEG . So , please let me how to achieve a 50 mb file size .<br>
<br>
Do the reputable stock agencies not accept if the file size is less than 50 mb ? Or , if the files are from D70 ?<br>
</p>
<p> </p>

<p>Thanks ,</p>
<p>Apart from the technological advancements , since larger prints fetch more money , is this an additional impetus for the pros to go for the newer higher Mp cameras as they come out ?</p>
-
<p>Dear Members ,</p>
<p>Over the years I have captured images mostly in DSLRs having 6 Mp , 12Mp , 16 Mp and 24 Mp . When uploading in stock agencies , should the file be in the maximum native resolution of the camera or I need to upscale ? For example , for D70 the maximum native resolution is 3008X2000 . However , if some buyer needs a 18X12 print , perhaps that would not be possible . And again , there may be another buyer who might need even a larger print . So , should I upscale and upload and again if I upscale to what maximum size ?</p>
<p>I have tried to get the answer through searches but have not got it .</p>
<p>Regards .</p>

<p>Grt ! Though it seems seeing the swollen ( ? ) right eye that the man has been punched by someone :) </p>
<p>Thanks all for your responses .</p>

<p>If I understood you correctly ,</p>
<p>"The effectiveness image stabilisation would vary with distance , the background being distant , the image stabilisation could not nullify/negate the handshake" .</p>
<p>I did not think about this and thanks for pointing it out . I would have to use the lens more , hand held with stabilization on , to actually know the safe shutter speed .</p>
<p>When I do bird photography from a fixed place , I use tripods turning off the image stabilization .</p>
<p>It was not my photographic tour so I had not gone there fully geared . I could not have placed a tripod in the open jungle safari jeep due to lack of space . A monopod could have been useful . I do not have other specialized gear for attachment to the jeep's body . There were vehicles and other jungle safari tourists in front of me . I was standing tall trying to get the view . So , bean bags could not have been useful , even if I had them .</p>
<p>Thanks .</p>

<p>Presently in photo net and elsewhere , lot is being discussed about D500 . IQ of D7200 would never match D750 . If IQ is the sole parameter and not the reach, choose D750 . However , it makes more sense now to wait a bit and then go for D500 . Follow different threads , you would be enlightened .</p>
